Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 Also Stephen Vogt has now been a manager for 2 years and has won AL Manager of the Year both years. Maybe someone has won the award back to back before. But how many times has a manager won less games and won 2 years in a row lol. Spanky__99 1

Hoping we get the same drama and an interview with Vlad asking if he’d rather sign Tucker or Bo Stangstag 1

Funky Verified Member Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 I think Bo at second base hitting forth would be awesome. Now to make the team special , Tatis Jr hitting in the two hole would be absolutely insane . I believe his tax hit is 25 million a year and the high end of his contract is 36 million a year He would take a massive return to get, not sure we have it, but if San Diego wants to lower payroll, we have a lot of players that can fill-in and produce right now for them. If Bo does re-up it crowds the infield with Gimenez and him taking up most innings at short and second, hopefully with Bo at second. Vlad is going nowhere and will be the first baseman for the next half dozen years and if he keeps, his body in shape maybe longer. That leaves Clement fighting with Barger for third base as well as occasionally spelling off at second and short. Barger with his left-handed, bat and power would be hard to move on from and is improved play in the outfield still makes him a valuable piece. With injuries, and a DH spot, have no problem, keeping both on the team, and both busy. Springer, Bo, Gimenez will not be able to play every day and most likely will spend some time on the DL. This also really crowds the outfield and without a guy I’d be comfortable covering for Varsho in centerfield plus the amount of money on his contract, making him hard to move. I think that leaves straw as one of the bench players we need to keep. Santander hit, which which is nice, hits for power, which is nice, and is coming off of dismal season. If there is anyway, we could move him to a team just to get rid of the contract and put that money towards Tatis Jr that would be an ultimate coup. With San Diego, trying to remain competitive but dropping salary could he maybe be part of the package back? I would think his value has to be about even meaning I don’t think we have to give up extra prospects just to offload his contract as his past history has shown he is a good power hitter when healthy. Now for the main pieces of the trade value wise, I would think Nimmala and Tiedemann are the bare minimum that would have to leave our prospect pool. However Nimmala will not be helping San Diego in the very near future. Santander covers a bit of Tatis power but they will need something else. Schneider is a multi tool but does he have any value what could we throw at San Diego to get young, gold glove, right fielder, with insane energy, speed, and a great bat? Between his age, skill, and Friendly contract, you would think he will cost an absolute ton. Sorry, I was listening to podcasts today on how we could fit both Bo and Tucker into the lineup and I got excited. Tatis jr would be like Tucker on steroids with a better cap hit and defense. SeranthonySantander Verified Member Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 The only way Santander gets moved is either eating the money or some type of shady backroom deal that will land Atkins in prison. Or I guess taking someone equally as bad contract for a pitcher or something. His contract could still be good, we need to give him a few months to see what he can do. Stangstag and Funky 2

Lefty bat with a career .282/.361/.411 slashline (119 wRC+) who can move all over the diamond as needed. Perhaps the Cards can package him with JoJo Romero who would project as our best lefty RP. Inexpensive acquisitions in terms of salary, that could leave room for other major upgrades. What Jays going to give up for those two?

Well it sounds like the Cards are motivated to cut payroll, so I'm assuming they will be looking for cost controlled assets. I think we would be looking at a package that includes prospects and/or cheap MLB ready talent. Probably would have to give up at least one of our better prospects, along with perhaps warm bodies like a Loperfido, who doesn't have a clear path to playing time here. But the main currency, I'd expect to be prospects
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 Is RJ Schreck perhaps a sleeper candidate to contribute to the 2026 roster? He has hit and produced big OBP numbers at each level. It's also interesting to note that upon being moved up to AAA in early June, he actually spent slightly more time in CF than anywhere else. 23 AAA starts in CF, 21 in RF, 4 in LF and 6 in the DH spot. If he can passably hack it in center, obviously that hugely increases his utility. He looks like a hitter Spanky__99 1
Nexii Verified Member Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 I still think we need to dump everything into pitching. We're forgetting how bad April was, with Green and Francis eating innings. We're a few injuries away from a scenario where we give up 800 runs... it wouldn't matter how much we slug in that scenario. We'd be Arizona basically, a .500 team at best. Of all the playoff teams we gave up the most runs and that was with the best defense in the league. Stangstag and BTS 2

His fit isn’t great positionally but you can’t have everyone playing multiple positions. Hipfan Verified Member Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 I don't get that Tatis talk, he'd require a haul and if you are going to get an outfielder, just sign Tucker (assuming he is interested in coming here). He only costs money plus a loss of a draft pick, whereas Tatis is going to deplete our depth. I think the Jays best play is just to resign Bo, grab a top end starter (Cease, Imai, or Suarez) and some BP depth (would love Diaz as our closer, but that may be too rich). Spanky__99 1

The "fit" works well if Springer isn't brought back after next year (which would make me sad). From everything I've heard, he brings great leadership to the clubhouse as well, which shouldn't be understated. He was quite consistent and solid the 3 seasons prior to joining the Jays. He was hurt for most of the season - he deserves a mulligan for sure. Spanky__99 and Stangstag 2

Tucker is a couple years older, and you're probably talking like 10M more a year on the tax hit. It's almost impossible to overpay for Tatis in terms of prospect capital.
