Man - I started this conversation. I was just pointing out how bad the Braves playoff starting rotation is and how their offense has 4 guys who were good, not great this year - and then they have a bunch of sub 100 wRC+ guys. People on here have been suggesting we need another top of the rotation starter if we want to compete - as come playoff time, it's sketchy relying on Yesavage and Soriano. I pointed out the Braves are doing it without a 1B or #2. And I was just suggesting the list of guys you said were hurt - they aren't tol of the rotation arms either. AA didn't address that "hole" this year or at the deadline and they are doing just fine. I clarified my point about their offense because others made comments about it that I felt I needed to. Olson and Acuna "have" been offensive stars - but they really weren't this year. Obviously they were better than the Jays top bats this year. I don't know why you're comparing them to the Jays? Not many 94 win teams top hitter is a 126 wRC+ bat. I'm just discussing it because I think it's a miracle the Braves are having this much success. It doesn't feel like a 94 win team. Their offense and pitching really isn't that good. It's just an observation and this is a message board where people post their thoughts, opinions and observations. Sorry for any confusion.

I'd be surprised if we have the budget to sign him. I agree, he's going to cost $18M+ We need go address the offense more. If we sign Gausman, I suspect it's a sign we missed out on the offensive guys we wanted. I hope I'm wrong - would love to see him back.

I'm sorry - but do you follow baseball? Michael Lorenzen got 1 year $8M last offseason. Bassitt got 1 year $18.5M Gausman is getting more than $7M. Information is readily available for you to make more informed comments. Just sayin'

We're a last place team man. Obviously we're aiming to get back in the playoffs, but this isn't a team that's a piece or two away from being a WS contender. Depending on who we add, I could certainly see Keys getting a lot of PA's from the DH position next year. If we do add Lowe or Jazz to play 2nd and we add another OFer, I don't think there's going to be much money spent on a DH. Keys is probably a trade possibility as well - we have a lot of LH batters who can't hit LHPing and you can't platoon everyone...

Exactly. We need some guys who mash lefties. Austin Hays is the other obvious target. I know you can't platoon in every position, but with Bateman, Lukes and Barger in the OF, it would make sense to have at least 1 guy who crushes LHP.

I mean - we had 4 last year? The Braves have 4 that are between a 120 and 126 wRC+, which is all good, but no real offensive star - and then it's all below average bats in that lineup. That's all I was getting at.

Unfortunately, these guys all suck and they aren't top of the rotation guys at all. Schwellenbach is a top of the rotation arm when healthy. They have 4 guys who are 120 wRC+ bats and then everyone else is below average, sub 100 wRC+ 21st in offensive WAR as a team, 17th in pitching WAR as a team, 6th defensively. Feels like one of those seasons where everything has broke their way. If you simulated this season 10 times, it feels like they're a below average team in like 8 of them. Maybe the Baseball Gods are trying even things out after they sh*t on the Braves in the playoffs all those years in a row in the 90's.

Crazy and kinda too bad the Braves had to bring in Sale go close it. It will push back when he's available v. the Dodgers. Still love seeing it though. Sale is so good. I don't get how their pitching is good enough to win in the playoffs. Jays fans are worried that Soriano and Yesavage aren't good enough to win the in playoffs, but the Braves are rolling out Tyler Mahle and Grant Holmes after Sale. There's no one way to win in the playoffs. That's the beauty of it. Anyway. Like the Braves franchise. Congrats to them for moving on. Nice to see the franchise favorite Albies knock one out.
