Hopefully the Jays pull off another Dylan Cease level of recruitment with Skubal. I don't even want to think about it because it's so unlikely, but that would be one hell of a two headed monster to have at the top of any rotation.

Any predictions? 1. Jays trade for Kwan to play CF/LF as insurance on Bateman 2. Jays trade for CJ Abrams and move him to 2B 3. Jays bring back Gausman 4. Jays sign Gregory Soto & Bryan Abreu (stacked bullpen) 5. Jays sign SP Kaima Taira

If you get two players who give you 6.3 fWAR over two seasons and all you give up is Spencer phucking Horwitz, it's not a bad trade. And paying for those two didn't stop the Jays from adding anyone. You're right, it isn't hard to figure out.

Can you explain to me how it's a loss of a trade though? I get that it's maybe not the best bang for the buck WAR-wise, but they still made the team better (6.3 fWAR combined), and I don't see evidence to support where the Jays FO or ownership said "you know, we'd like to pursue this high end free agent, but we can't because we have that darn Giminez contract to worry about".

Where did I make Atkins out to be a god? The problem here is that those moves were being used to detract from what Atkins has done. Those moves added wins to the team. Far from being his best moves, but no reason to remove his Boss title.

Well the budget has been pretty much unlimited or at least those two players salaries didn't stop the Jays from chasing down every big name FA under the sun, so I'd say Ross "The Boss" Atkins lives on for now.

And the Jays got 6.3 combined fWAR from those two players in 2025 and 2026. And all it cost them was what...Spencer Horwitz and money?

Imagine having a late inning reliever group made up of Varland, Morejon, Miles and Rogers.

You go balls to the wall for Skubal but if that doesn't happen I'd be more than happy to bring Gausman back. And no matter what happens in the above scenario I'm hoping to see Bieber back on a pillow deal. Nothing wrong with bringing back last years rotation IMO (minus mad Max) because: 1. You're probably going to get a lot more out of Ponce than 2.1 innings lol 2. Now you also have Soriano in the mix 3. You likely get healthier seasons from Bieber and Yesavage 4. Berrios, Francis and Bloss didn't even exist last season in MLB, but likely play a factor next season

Yeah, I know he didn't but as fan it'd be nice to see some loyalty once in a while from the players rather than them just chasing a massive pay day all the time. JRam could have made a lot more money too.

Thing is that after having the offense crater the way it did, the Jays FO can't really sit on their hands and put all their hopes in the return of Santander and Barger can they? Santander is in his 30's and hasn't been healthy for two full seasons now. Barger doesn't have a long track record of success in MLB to point to. If these guys actually come back and give you 120 wRC+ or better it should just be icing on the cake. If it's something you count on you might be setting yourself up for another tough season offensively. Even if they only brought in Suzuki I'd be much happier with the outlook for next season.

Bo can rot on the Mets for all I care. Baseball needs more JRam's and less Bo Bichette's IMO
