Just got out of jail this morning after starting several fist fights at my local dive after the game yesterday so pardon the delay. But I am absolutely FURIOUS that we dropped this series against the Yankees. Especially after we pummeled them the first game, and then Cam Shitter talks crap, Caballero's shenanigans, etc. Dropping the last two like that because we can't buy a base hit with RISP was a TOTAL and COMPLETE kick in the nuts. We really need to buckle down here the next 4 series. We have an off day today and then 16 straight games against: @ BOS, @ CHC, vs. HOU and vs. Texas. This is a doable part of the schedule and with Bieber set to return during this period the team may never be healthier than it will be for this stretch of games. It's time to start playing better.

He could be one of the best hitters in the league if he had a good approach. The hit tool/power combo is elite. They had some crazy stat yesterday where he's hitting .312 when behind in the count. Early in the count he needs to look middle in and try to hit homers. Then when he gets two strikes he can do his stupid slap hitting. If he did that he could hit .290 with 35 homers easy. The entire league is trying to hit homers right now. Even Myles Straw gets up to the plate trying to do it. But not Vlad, he's slapping at balls low and away and pounding them into the ground.

Vlad says "don't worry about me I'll be fine". I mean okay sure but we are playing important games RIGHT NOW. I get preaching patience but it's time to get on it bud, this slump has gone on long enough.

Springer is old and his projections are starting to near Sanchez, Lukes, Barger territory anyway. So platooning him is making more sense as it keeps him fresh and makes sense statistically. vs LHP You could go with a Sanchez/Springer platoon in RF. On the days Springer is in RF you could have Kirk DHing, thus giving him and Val more ABs. Our righty bench bats suck so this could be a way to help mitigate that. vs RHP When facing righties, Springer could still DH some, but I would sprinkle in some of our lefties. Pinango would be a good option here with Lukes in LF and Sanchez in RF.

Scherzer looked pretty good in AAA. I think he'll look pretty good tonight too, although the Phillies lineup is good enough that the results might not match how well he actually pitches. My bigger concern is whether he can take the ball every fifth day while remaining effective. Might be able to string together a handful of starts but can he give us a half season's worth spread out over the next 2/3 season? I doubt it. With Bieber due back soon I'd take a handful of good starts from him right now.
