Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 It's crazy. Nobody even flinches at a bat flip any more. 10 years ago the tears were flowing out of Texas with Joey Bats bat flip heard round the world. hanton and BatFlip 1 1
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 It's been said in the game day threads a few times but it's worth emphasizing... Thank f*** they didn't trade Trey Yesavage at the deadline There wasn't a single player available who would have been worth having instead of him right now mphenhef 1

A lot of the miserable old farts are out of the game and the younger generation that was bat flipping in High School are now the Stars of the game. Baseball is more fun when you enjoy big moments. I mean from time to time you're going to see some hurt feelings. More on slow Homerun trots over bat flips though.

I don't mind seeing emotion on big moments but the home run celebrations in the dugout that we see these days and the bravado for stupid things like drawing a walk, I have no time for any of that. I still like the idea of acting like you've done it before, I think it's a lot colder and more awesome honestly.

But not impossible. Sure, but thats every trade deadline for any team looking at the playoffs. Nobody is ever truly untouchable and you always listen with an open mind, whether you truly have one or not. All those quotes around the deadline w are just the cliches of the GM world akin to players and their "just give it 110%" and "gotta take it one game at a time"
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 When do the ROY for 2026 betting lines open? Might be a decent time to start sprinkling some units on a certain Jays pitcher

Thats an impact arm we would have had for 2+ months plus beyond this season. You never know what you’ll get with prospects. Obviously this worked out for us

Obviously this worked out for us I wouldn't have traded Yesavage for anyone that was actually available, I think it's just too important for this run of contention to be sustainable for the team to finally start developing some cost controlled starters as the rotation has generally been eating up half of the available budget. If you were able to utilize Yesavage as part of a massive package to snag a guy like Skenes for instance then it would have been see you Trey but I just didn't see any realistic scenarios where it made sense to move a guy with his upside.

I think part of that 10 years ago was the pure disrespect of Joey Bats flip where he was staring down the pitcher. Vlad's was a flip but didn't come off nearly as much as trying to show up the other team. Note, I am in the pro Batflip camp.

There was some s*** before the PA. After hitting a bomb to RF he dropped his bat, started the pitcher down for a while, rounded the bases and then ran out to fight him. These bat flips ain't s***.

Right now they are giving access to anyone that buys season or quarter season packs. im assuming they will try to squeeze out as many as possible before letting them go on sale to the general pop. I remember some conversation we had on here regarding promoting him; because I specifically stated about how teams should challenge a player (by a promotion etc) especially a top prospect and especially when he dominates from level to level.

The batflip was magical, same as EE in '16 walking it off. Yet really the biggest dingers ever were Alomar in the LCS against Eck, and then Carter off wild thing, lol

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 Should have taken Yarbrough over Blackburn, if nothing more than they needed another lefty in the pen. The Jays have tons of lefty bats and the only lefty in the Yankees bullpen is Tim Hill who is mid. Luke Weaver has reverse splits so they rely on him against lefties but he sucks. But I suppose it's more of a roster construction issue more than anything. They traded for a bunch of relievers but none of them were lefties. infinitebook 1

I like that their motto for this playoffs is "built for fall" and is on all their clothing. The Yankees are a dangerous team, but they in many ways are not built for fall haha Terminator 1
