I think they really believed they could get his offense at least back to league average, maybe even better, in which case it could've been a steal. Just hasn't worked out that way. -

Kirk should be in the lineup against Shitter as DH. The Blue Jays are going to have to use two catcher lineups here and there. This is also not the game that I would have given Vlad a day off. He's a contact hitter and we need contact hitters because even slap singles off of Shitter will be valuable. Moto is also too high in the lineup. I think Shitter will cream him.

Let's not forget that he was fast tracked to the major leagues. Still young as a pro. He might still need seasoning in the minors.

His command issues have always been there. Despite his magical starts in the postseason he still has to prove that he can be a frontline starter over the course of a full season. Especially after teams get a look at him a few times.

Yesavage is going to have to figure out how to be more consistent with his command if he's going to stay as a top of the rotation type guy.

I held my tongue for almost two months and a half out of respect for his playoff run but he's worse now than he's ever been. At this point he needs ritual sacrifice.

I was never banking on Garcia's comeback to begin with. I always held the viewpoint that I will expect nothing while hoping for the best and this is why. Age, injuries, lack of playing time. It's a toxic mix. I'll continue to hope, but I'll be very pleasantly surprised if he's pitching leverage innings for us this year. -
I kind of wish that was true because at least there would be an explanation and there's an end in sight. But we've seen this type of thing out of him several times in the last few seasons, never quite this bad but, It's like he's aging in dog years. Except for one magical month where he finally looked like the mega MVP superstar we thought he was. Make it make sense.

Oh and by the way, what's up with this guy not running to first base anymore? I understand it's not worth tearing a quad gunning it on a routine ground ball but even ground balls were the fielder might have to make a tough play and you want to at least force a rushed throw this guy is just cruising at this point. He's 10 feet from the base. There's a very obvious decline in his base running effort this year.

No we can't live with this in the regular season. We need this ******* to make the postseason. Besides, how about the other postseasons when he was absolute s***? Remember the pickoff of second base because of how much of an idiot he is? This motherf***er doesn't get to live off of one great month. Especially when we have seen these immense power outages over the course of the last three regular seasons. His power is progressively getting worse. He's supposed to be in his prime. It's year one of that embarrassing contract.
