It was noted that the Jays had such a healthy division lead that they shut him down to let him get it healthy for the playoffs. He apparently could have pitched through it and was pitching through it up until that point.

Him being left off the roster makes me think it has more to do with not liking him vs the Yankees and he wouldn’t be ruled out for the ALCS.

Schneider mentioned that Bassitt wasn't sufficiently stretched out yet to be available to start in the division series.

This is the right move. Game 3 will either be trying to save the season (down 0-2), a swing game (tied 1-1), or wanting to rip their hearts out (up 2-0). I want Bieber in that spot on the road, with the ability to use Yesavage on regular rest in Game 5 out of the bullpen if necessary.

Which have ruled him out of Starting for sure. But Bassit would have been more than fine coming out of the pen. He has said he doesn't care what he has to do. Just wants to win a World Series.

I agree with your thoughts that the club most likely didn't particularly enjoy the Bassitt matchup vs the Yankees. This makes sense given how lefty heavy a lineup the Yankees can trot out vs Bassit given his struggles vs left handed hitters.

Yup I agree that's definitely what it came down to. Those are 2 fiery personalities they are not including on the roster. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall during those conversations with Bassit and Max. Bruihl will certainly have to get his lefties. I don't think anyone expected to see his name today.

I get your frustration with Bo, I really do.  But we're talking about a ligament sprain. I had a mild knee sprain in my twenties and I couldn't drive my car for three weeks because I couldn't depress the clutch. Now imagine a major league player who torques the hell out of his body on a swing like Bo does against guys throwing hundo.  

You have to accept the reality of the situation here.

If Bo could he play he would be playing. Case closed. If he hasn't ran at all or even hit against velocity there's probably a legit reason for it. Another week could do wonders but the team has to there first.

We can still activate Bassitt/Scherzer for Bruhil if required for Game 4.  I hope we actually do that because you never know if we need a guy to eat innings during a bullpen game.

Shocked about Bassitt but yeah in a short 5-game series you might not need him. Just gotta hope the Jays don't tax their pen too much this series. 

Gausman would start a potential Game #5. I would start Bieber tomorrow, so he could be available in a Game #5 in an emergency out of the pen. 

If Gausman and Bieber can each go 5-6 innings the decision to roster so few starters should work out fine

And you have Lauer for "in case of emergency break glass" scenario

He only follows certain clubs around. He was never leaving his comfy studio for a Rangers or Royals visit to Toronto.

FYI, ticket prices seem pretty reasonable now. $200-$300 per seat for 100 level and 200 level seats in comparison to a couple days ago where they were $500-600.

I assume that's easily faked, although I assume that would disqualify the "injured" player for the ALCS. Definitely scenarios where teams could see fit to do this

A must win for the Yankees with Fried on the mound. Would be so sweet if the Jays could steal this game and head to New York up 2-0!

I would think it will be a similar lineup to game 162.  Varsho and Barger the only lefties.
