And then some loyalty for all the money they threw at him. But the team has done nothing to prove they're trying to win. Maybe he finally realizes that and wants a last hurrah on a contender. jaysblue 1

Agree with everything you said. At some point, reality has to set in. This is about to be their 11th straight losing season, Ohtani is gone, and the organization still hasn’t shown any real ability to build a serious winner around him. If he wants one last real shot at meaningful baseball while he can still impact games, this might be the point where he finally realizes staying loyal to the Angels is just wasting the rest of his career.
Laika Community Moderator Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Trout will remain an Angel into the last year or two of his career, when he is 38+, and he will then end up on the Dodgers in some kind of overpaid shortside platoon role getting maybe 350 PA. But he will beast out and everyone will love it and win a World Series. Brownie19 1

That realization was pretty clear years and years ago. It's been a terrible organization for a long time. He clearly doesn't care. Would there actually indications to him that things would be any different in Toronto? We're the AL version of the Mets.

Exactly. He has total control over any potential trade and I don't see any likelihood that he would pick/allow Toronto to acquire him. At the end of the world series we might have had some credit. But I'll bet this abysmal first half has probably cost about 80% of the good vibes that were there.
