Benito Verified Member Posted October 31, 2025 Posted October 31, 2025 I watched the Jays win in 92 and 93. I hope I see them win this year. What an amazing run. They basically had to take the hardest road possible, having to go through NY, Sea, and LA. Hopefully if they win, there will be no more talk of luck or fluke that I've read people attribute to their season. This team is legit and deserves all the credit for their success. Let's finish this ride tonight and immortalize this team in baseball history. itaos, leaffie, Stangstag and 4 others 6 1
Blue balls Verified Member Posted October 31, 2025 Posted October 31, 2025 Unreal. I can’t believe they got to the point where they can lose tonight and still win the world series tomorrow. Just keep it simple and destroy them tonight though ! Awesome team. Great stories, good and likeable players. Enjoy all !!!
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 31, 2025 Posted October 31, 2025 Blake Snell is right, baseball involves a lot of luck. The perception that Yamamoto is a sure thing right now is not supported by facts. Look at all these red/pink outs from Jays hitters last game. The Jays did not have a bad plan or approach last time. Jays will get to him eventually.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 31, 2025 Posted October 31, 2025 what do we think Shulman's call will be on Kirk's walk off homer tonight? I think he just screams "TOUCH EM ALL KIRK" over and over
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 31, 2025 Posted October 31, 2025 The Dodgers players keep saying they know what to do because they were down 2-1 in the NLDS in 2024 I dunno, man. Doesn't feel like the same thing!

Either a) 'Pull dat ball' is not random Davis Schneider owned Blake Snell, got around on his fastball and it wasn't luck. b) 'Pull dat ball' is a bit random and if Barger or someone else 'pull dat ball' 99 mph launch angle 28 it a different game.

Or is that too cheesy? I say go for it. I still believe the Joe Buck tribute to his father "and we'll see you tomorrow night" was one of the coolest things I've seen in baseball. The likelihood of getting the opportunity to play homage to your father like that is just so low - kudos for Joe for pulling it off.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2025 Posted October 31, 2025 I was 8/9 years old when the Jays went back to back, and while I have fond memories of those years, I think winning now after what we have seen as fans over the last 30+ years will mean more. Especially considering the expectations (practically none) coming into this season and how likable the team is. Very nervous energy for me right now. As someone else mentioned, I'm confident in this team but also very nervous about what could happen. Let's end it tonight and not have to worry about Game 7. I was 2 and 3 and have no visible memory of watching but apparently I was according to my parents. I don't think it was until 1998 that I can truly remember watching Blue Jays baseball for the first time. Alex Gonzalez went deep in that game and he was my favorite player and was upset when he got traded to Cubs. Apparently my parents bought me his jersey and he was traded like 3 or 4 days before Christmas.

Yea I was 10 when they won in 93, granted I was heavily invested thanks to my dad. The Jays were running the highest payroll in baseball in the early 90s though and had a team of stars. To me there's definitely a different feeling this time around. For starters, Toronto represents Canada at this point and we got fans from coast to coast who haven't experienced this before. We're taking on the Dodgers and making all their analysts second guess themselves. While it's not exactly David vs Goliath, they think they are the center of the world and can't see outside their window. They basically have written the narrative that they can buy championships at this point and finishing them off, in front of our crowd would be so so so satisfying. There's people talking baseball everywhere now, people who haven't watched a game since the 2015/2016 bandwagon. I've never seen others so into it before. Every town/city is buzzin. I really wish I could have watched this one with my dad, he would have loved this. Anyway.. Pinkfloid, glory, Brownie19 and 2 others 5

I've been oddly calm in the world series compared to the prior rounds of the playoffs. I think part of this is due to the satisfaction level of simply getting to the world series in the first place, but if this series goes to game 7 that calmness is going to be gone in a hurry. I want absolutely nothing to do with a game 7 so fingers crossed the boys can find a way to scratch out enough runs against Yamamoto. Stangstag, BatFlip, Pinkfloid and 1 other 4

I was one day old when Joe Carter hit his walkoff so have no memory of those World Series wins obviously. Unfortunately, I am in the same boat. My dad taught me everything I know about the technical aspects of the game. I played until I was 21 but stopped playing due to a rotator cuff injury. That was the same year (2014) my father was killed in a car crash. he would have loved this. I will probably be emotional with my girlfriend if they pull it off tonight or tomorrow. This win would mean so much more to me, not just because of the 30 year wait, but because I would get to enjoy this one with my two boys.
