  1. The Jays also have a lot of slightly above average hitters. Not sure if I love spending a theoretical 150M for yet another slightly above average hitter.
  2. I do like the thought of 60-80 SB next year between Jazz and Bateman.
  3. If we can sign one of Jazz or Suzuki, who would you pick? I like Suzuki more even while acknowledging his age.
  4. Injuries will happen but I think the claim that they average 450-500 PA overstating it just a little bit. From a Baseball Prospectus article: From an old write up on Tyrone Taylor from Baseball Reference: In addition, a hitter needs 502 PA in 162 games to be a qualified regular. It seems implausible that the average 4th outfielder is a qualified regular. However I do agree that there is a significant chance that one or more of your starting 3 OF gets injured, but not all of those PA will go to the opening day 4th OF - they will be spread around him, the injury call up, prospects, etc.
  5. Is this true? When I wrote that I assumed the average 4th outfielder gets 250-350 PA, with a strong side platoon or semi regular guy getting slightly more at 400-500 PA (basically how we have used Lukes). All of that is to say I wouldn't hate Lukes getting another 400 PA next year, if we get some offensive improvement on the infield. But that's harder than signing a corner outfielder who can hit. Idk these are my pre-coffee Monday morning thoughts.
  6. Lukes should not be getting 600 PA anyways. He's a great 4th outfielder.
  7. Arte Moreno actually would gladly take on the contract. All in favour?
  8. On the bright side next year (or whenever they play baseball), it will be impossible for them to be this bad again. In fact, I predict a top 5 offense.
  9. Realistically the season is over. I doubt the FO / JS care to "slight" (if it even would) the 500M anchor they are attached to for 14 more years, over another month of a lost season.
  10. Soriano is going to be fine. No idea why he was out for the 6th. JS simply forgot perhaps?
  11. The Little glaze before he coughs up runs is always funny.
  12. I see Bateman as something like .245/.335/.315. Maybe a little lower OBP, Maybe a little higher SLG. But if his CF defense is as legit as it appears than that's a pretty useful player.
  13. NY should want Boston to lose so I have faith in a correct and just ruling (for us).
