Injuries will happen but I think the claim that they average 450-500 PA overstating it just a little bit. It seems implausible that the average 4th outfielder is a qualified regular. However I do agree that there is a significant chance that one or more of your starting 3 OF gets injured, but not all of those PA will go to the opening day 4th OF - they will be spread around him, the injury call up, prospects, etc.

Is this true? When I wrote that I assumed the average 4th outfielder gets 250-350 PA, with a strong side platoon or semi regular guy getting slightly more at 400-500 PA (basically how we have used Lukes). All of that is to say I wouldn't hate Lukes getting another 400 PA next year, if we get some offensive improvement on the infield. But that's harder than signing a corner outfielder who can hit. Idk these are my pre-coffee Monday morning thoughts.

Lukes should not be getting 600 PA anyways. He's a great 4th outfielder.

I see Bateman as something like .245/.335/.315. Maybe a little lower OBP, Maybe a little higher SLG. But if his CF defense is as legit as it appears than that's a pretty useful player.
