Fun story about Mark Eichorn. My parents took my sister and I on a summer road trip some time in the early 90's so this would have had to have happened during Eichorn's second stint with the team in '92 or '93. The Blue Jays played the White Sox while we were driving through Chicago so we went to the game at the new Comiskey Park. We were sitting in the outfield near the Jays bullpen and my dad went to get snacks before the game. Eichorn noticed my mom and called her over and tried hitting on her (she's pretty). He was polite when she told him she was married and he signed a ball for her. My dad got back halfway through the ordeal and laughed the entire time. I still have the ball.

Your dad sounds like a cuck.

Jays should try and grab Dinelson Lamet, upside is still there and with the current pitching depth they might as well.

We might have to come to realization that this team just f***ing sucks.

Shapiro needs a press conference tomorow and say the following

"We have looked at the fangraphs and rubbish we have discarded is doing quite well, Julian Merryweather and Ryan Noda for example.

Mean time our 80 hit tool greatest hitting prospect ever is 1 FULL fangraph WAR less than Ryan Noda. The prospect we believed in, Pearson is getting lit up like Christmas... but Merryweather (congratulations young man) has success.

Everyone is f***ing fired, including myself and including Don Mattingly... I have left the plans for the next two stadium renovations on my desk... the only person not fired is the chap from Houston, Crick or something, he will attempt to right the ship, god speed."

RYAN f***ING NODA = 1.8 WAR. Patience. Getting the absolute most of his abilities. Playing OK Defense at first.

VLADIMIR 80 hit tool GUERRERO = 0.5 WAR

NODA is 1.3 WAR ahead (I took off 0.1 WAR from Vlad for tonight's performance, even if it is still 0.6 tomorrow, Noda is still 1.2 ahead)

And Merryweather... f***-off. Pearson sucks. Merryweather is awesome. Enough., The entire high (aka low) performance team needs to be fired.

I'm going to give them until the ASB but if they don't go on a run before then then they need to become sellers.

Chapman, Whit, Kiermaier, Belt and some of the relievers like Garcia should hit the block. Not going to get a ton for those guys but if they can get lotto tickets and upper minors depth they should do it. Can play Horowitz and call up Davis Schneider, Otto Lopez and others to see what they've got. Get Manoah back up and/or put Francis in the rotation and take the training wheels off. Things like that.

It's hard to see it right now, but we've got a ways to go before we hit that point. After this Marlins series we've got to win a good chunk of games though. Can't say I'm overly confident but I do have some optimism that they can pound on some of the teams coming up.

This would be more interesting than a dreary slog towards a few games out of a wildcard.

I'm definitely down for that. High upside arm to roll the dice on.

Typical Jays team that looks great on paper but finds ways to fail spectacularly.

I'm really not surprise by much of what I'm seeing relative to what I expected this season. I guess Manoah slipped further than even I thought he would. RISP has been flukey.

There's not much about this team beyond that that's really surprising to me. I thought it would be a struggle, it is a struggle. I expected Guerrero to disappoint.

It is what it is, a good team that's not a contender.

Ryan Noda would have -1.8 WAR if he played for the Jays guaranteed.

Every whiny message I see on here I add $5 to one of my Jays season bets (Win AL East, win 90+ games, win WS). This forum has proven time and time again to be the perfect contrarian indicator.

This looks very much like a mid/high 80s win team. Good enough to contend for a WC, possibly sneak in, but not a roster that I’d want to double down on which Atkins almost certainly will at the deadline.

Will they win a playoff game? The expectations for the Bo/Vlad winning cycle was that they would win playoff games and series and contend for division title.

So far in Bo/Vlad years

Number of days spent in 'contention' for division title = 0

Number of playoff wins = 0

2021, and 2022 Rays, then Yankees got off to great starts and coasted to 100 wins so Jays were 7-10 games out of the division most of the season. This year? Repeat.

Will they win a playoff game this year? They could. I would say the chances are less than 50% though. (40% chance to make the playoffs and 75% chance to win a game if they are in = like 30% chance of winning a playoff game).

As bad as this season has been at least the Yankees, Red Sox, and Astros also suck.

Toronto is one game back or that s***** last WC spot.

Seattle and Cleveland are also dogshit and behind the pack

The Angels are doing okay but they probably lose 13 in a row soon.

Keep Spirit.

Anyone like to see James Click change seats with Atkins?

I mean we have a 45 year old World Series winning GM with 3 AL Division crowns pushing paper.

If our big league team stinks, and our prospects stinks, our depth is horrible, and our payroll is up there who do point a finger at?

This big mess needs cleaned up.

James Click, clean up 1 Blue Jays Drive.

I don't buy the Click hype.

I mean it's POSSIBLE he is great. The Rays liked him and the Astros liked him and those are two smart orgs.

But his Houston run was so short, and every significant player on their World Series team probably arrived in Houston before he even did (2020).

Pre-season you had the Jays FO clear 1st tier, you’ve already knocked them down a couple pegs in the pecking order. Soon your quarter-serious trolls will start piling up

James Click should only be interim President and GM. Plan to fix it....

1. Shapiro fires everyone including himself, leaves plans for stadium renovations and business plans on his desk. Good architect, engineer, and business manager are sent by Rogers to retrieve them and take over business side.

2. James Click only one not fired takes over, job is to try to fix rest of season.

3. Long term candidates are vetted on Blue Jays message board and have to join and undergo extensive questioning by the great minds under this board. BJMB is fully responsible for vetting next baseball ops hire, then 5 years from now no complaining, the candidate was chosen by you.

It sounds like he has an important role already from the time of his hiring. It didn't seem like he made any significant moves while running the Astros. Possible he's great at coming up with strategies and computer stuff, but he has trouble executing a plan.

A statement from the Blue Jays said that Click will work closely with Toronto general manager Ross Atkins.

Click will also work with department heads on strategic planning, decision making, and evaluation.

Click will work across both professional and amateur levels to identify best practices, develop plans, and implement strategies.

Why stop there? I wonder what we could get for Bo, Vlad, Gausman, Berrios and Kirk. This team is s***. I'd hate to see Bo go because he's a fantastic baseball player, but he'll never have success here. Vlad's a POS. Fat, entitled rich boy who doesn't give a f*** about winning or being the best player he can be. You can't build around this guy as he sets no example for his team. Go back and work on your home run derbies in the DR with your buddies while eating grandma's fatty meals. Not many players waste as much talent as Vlad does.

Think of the rebuild if we had a fire sale. Bo, Vlad, Gausman, Berrios, Kirk, Chapman, Whit, KK, Belt, Romano, Bassit, Swanson. We're probably stuck with Varsho unfortunately after making the worst trade in franchise history. The issue is we obviously need a new GM first, so we may need to defer this until the offseason. I just had to tell my 12 year old that we're cancelling his birthday at the dome because we don't support f***ing beta losers like the Jays.
