Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 I swear Jansen fanboys are the most retarded subsection of fandom in the game. Roger Maris Jr. acolytes have more brains than you racist fatphobic dopes. Hilarious how the Jansen fanboys think he’s Mike Piazza after “breaking out” and putting up 4 WAR combined in 140 games over the past two years. Big deal! Kirk did that in just this season alone, and he did it at age 23 when most catchers are still learning the game in the minors. Nobody is a Jansen fan boy lol. People are just thinking logically. At the end of the day its opinion. Ross Atkins is the GM he gets to weigh the value of trading each of them and decide what 2 Catchers he ultimately wants to roll with.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 connorp is the worst for misrepresenting what someone posts You’re insane Jim. I’m going to call the people with straight jackets to remedy the situation. #Younggunz23shocker

Merely point out facts like he has a glass body or the eyesight of your average 80 year old grandmother (I've heard rumors that his prescription glasses are so strong that he's in fact legally blind) and you'll get a dozen simps running out of the woodwork to defend him like they are teenage girls and you just insulted a member of their favorite K-pop boy band. This board is CRAWLING with Jansen fanboys.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 I would’ve even call the finger a “freak” or “fluke” injury. HBP don’t happen every game but it’s not entirely uncommon. Sort of like awkward slides, diving plays etc… I’ve seen Vlad get hit in the hand and you hold you breath for a minute but it’s ok in the end. Maybe a day off to rest the hand. Guys like Stanton, Buxton, and Jansen… they don’t seem to escape those situations I agree, there’s definitely merit to the idea that some guys are just more brittle/injury-prone. Mono wouldn’t keep most players out for an entire season…

You started calling people fanboys after we called out your s***** trade idea for ONeill and a BP piece that would probably be DFAed. ONeill was last year's darling.. get over it. He sucks.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Lol and right on cue here come the Jansen fanboys. One of you is probably Danny Jansen himself. It wasn’t me that came up with the O’Neil trade but it’s 100x better than anything you Jansen fanboys could come up with. Most of you wouldn’t trade Jansen for Babe Ruth in his prime, that’s how blind you all are.

I did NOT nurse my son for two full years so that he gets traded for f***ing ONeill.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Tyler O’Neill is jacked and he bleeds maple syrup he’s like if Chris Benoit and Bret Hart’s sister had a kid Danny Jansen is almost not an athlete he basically has Jeffrey Dahmer’s physique and face
Captain_Obvious Verified Member Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Jansen's glasses have JARVIS built in. This compensates for whatever physical deficiencies you might be imagining.

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 This discussion is going off the rails. No one is a Jansen fan-boy they just think they are all superscouts and hate the moneyball movie and want to evaluate players based on how they fit in jeans. If Kirk looked like Jansen and Jansen looked like Kirk they'd think Kirk is the next Carlton Fisk and want to trade Jansen.

Or it could be because over Jansen's last 335 PA's, he's got a 155 wRC+, a slash line of .278/.349/.580, .302 ISO and 23 HR / 53 R / 64 RBI / 9 BB% /17 K%. Maybe he's the next Carlton Fisk? But seriously - I think most just want to trade the catcher that provides the most value in return. We can't f*** this up. Fans also believe there is some risk in Kirk's weight. If the FO and their team agree, than that has to play into the thought process as well. If the FO and their team believe the Jansen's we've seen for the past 335 PA's is the true Danny, then this might be a perfect time to lock him up to a team friendly deal - before he's able to stay healthy for a full season. It's going to be fascinating to see what the team does and how this all plays out. I hope we get it right.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 I wonder if the Jays could get Antonio Senzatela for Danny Jansen?

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 I wonder if the Jays could get Antonio Senzatela for Danny Jansen? Surely we can aim higher than that? I mean if that's all you can get for Jansen, then you keep him and trade one of the other 2 IMO.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 I wonder if the Jays could get Antonio Senzatela for Danny Jansen? owed $7.5M, $12M, $12M, $12M, $14M team option in 2027 6.2 fWAR in 59 GS over the last 3 seasons... so he might be a 3.1 WAR pitcher by true talent. But by BR he is only at 4.8 WAR over that timeframe. So it's more holistic to think of him as a 2.4 to 3.1 WAR true talent. Always some risk when a player leaves the Rockies for various reasons, just a weird org and weird place to play. will turn 28 over the winter boring skill set; low K and GB profile does not scream upside, at all... I mean the Rockies would be MORONS to not do the trade. Senzatela should not have as much value as Jansen; his contract is pretty close to what he might get in free agency I think at most there is like a $10M or $15M gap between his contract and what he would get in FA which is essentially his market value. I think Jansen as a guy who seems to have unlocked 4+ WAR upside and maybe 5 WAR upside carried more value.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 I wonder if the Jays could get Antonio Senzatela for Danny Jansen? not sure if serious
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Just wait bro You know he re-tore the same UCL he tore a few years ago?
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 You know he re-tore the same UCL he tore a few years ago? Science bro. I think he got some new age thing put in there this time around.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 As others have said, there is an argument to be made for all 3 of the catchers to be kept or traded. Maximize the next 2-3 years? Trade Moreno. Try to sustain contention for as long as possible? Keep the players with the most control (i.e. trade Jansen). Looking for the best return in general? Trade either Kirk or Moreno. There really isn't a "wrong" answer unless Atkins gets f***ed in a trade return, but of the 3 catchers, Jansen is the one where the likelihood of getting a return that instantly makes us say "that's it?" is much higher. No one is saying Jansen is the next great catcher in baseball, but a 2.6 WAR in less than half a season of PA's this season and a 4.5 WAR/140 wRC+ in his last 400 PA dating back to 2021 makes him a pretty valuable player even with the caveats (injury prone). On top of that, we have no idea what Moreno will eventually become and/or how long it will take for him to get there, and the next 2-3 years are essentially the team's best competitive window with this group. Not the easiest decision, but obviously, Atkins is in the driver's seat.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Or it could be because over Jansen's last 335 PA's, he's got a 155 wRC+, a slash line of .278/.349/.580, .302 ISO and 23 HR / 53 R / 64 RBI / 9 BB% /17 K%. It's going to be fascinating to see what the team does and how this all plays out. I hope we get it right. It's just that Kirk's record of work, including minors is way more impressive than Jansen's and Kirk has a super high ceiling, especially if he could catch 120 games (his d-stats are knocked down by 50 DH games). Perhaps I'm the one being illogical, but it just seems to me that guys with Kirk's hitting skills are pretty rare and have high ceilings. I've mentioned some names (Olerud, Mauer, Edgar Martinez), but here is another one. Roberto Alomar. Sort of a .290 hitter with single digit homerun power at Kirk's age, peaked as a .320 hitter with 25 homers. Mistake I am making is forgetting all the guys who hit .290 with 15 homers good on base... more walks than strikeouts and failed, or peaked at 23.

Also, can anyone confirm the rumor that he did in fact fail his driving test and cannot get a driver’s license in this country? I’ve been through his social media and haven’t seen anything involving him driving so I think it might be true.
