I don't have all of the details, but it seems like Wilner was just responding to some fans, which is pretty much his job. I'm sorry that Pillar got his feelings hurt, but he doesn't really belong in this conversation when Wilner isn't even blatantly insulting him.

Agree. No idea what Pillar is trying to accomplish wading in on this.

Pillar is getting cocky as f***.

Kind of ironic because he's gotten in trouble in the past for not understanding what his role on the team is. Delusions of grandeur.

Pillar is wrong both in the argument and for responding in the first place, but Wilner's one of the most unlikable people on earth so I'm going to stay neutral on this one.

Wilner left out Colabello, Travis, Martin as being better hitters than Pillar. Hell even Smoak if he were in the lineup.

In a healthy lineup Pillar should be hitting 9th.

I don't think Kevin Pillar should bat lead-off but he deserves credit for having a wRC+ of 120 in the playoffs against very tough pitchers, and has been improving at the plate throughout the year - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=12434&position=OF

I think Revere should continue to bat lead-off. I think Pillar should bat number 6 or 7 in 2016, but he is on the rise so in the future he might be a number 5 type batter.

Revere is gone come December.

I would agree with you back in 2014 when Kevin Pillar got sent back to AAA for his outburst, however, now he has demonstrated that he is not just a major league player, but currently one of the best defensive players in the MLB and on the rise offensively.

The Blue Jays are very fortunate to have Kevin Pillar. I wonder how often Wilner has pointed that out; maybe now would be a good time.

Yep. We should trade him if we get good value on him. I think this is the height of his value. He is like JP Arencibia in that he is too blind to his own faults to realize how to improve. His low walk totals and bat in general will not improve and the defense can only go downhill.

Hopefully he's a #5 on another team, otherwise we're in trouble.

Seeing someone as a major league player is one thing, but Pillar is a solid 8 out of 9 on the depth chart of hitters in that lineup. And he goes to 9 with Travis playing second instead of Goins.

It's not really debateable.

His 2nd half numbers were down from his first half numbers. And hopefully were not under the illusion he's another Bautista or Donaldson and break out at 27.

Unfortunately this is likely the best you'll see of him. I don't see the bat being much better and the defense can't possibly continue as it has.

I'd be willing to bet we'd get a fraction of what Simmons netted from the Angels and that wasn't much.

Just the sheer logic of Bautista or EE leading off over Pillars speed and improving batting at this stage in all 3 carreers is absurd. Wilner should be embarassed for suggesting it

What good is speed when you struggle to obp 300?

Pillar is not a bright guy. it's nice that he has lots of confidence and all but he just sounds like a moron.

and I dislike Wilner as much as anyone.

It just amazes me that someone with as much talent as him at the f***ing game of beisbol could be so god dam dumb

I can't believe Morosi and some posters here were suggesting Taijuan Walker haha.

I'd be happy to get Paxton, who might be on the block, for Pillar. I'd consider that trade straight up.

his contract hurt his return value big time, even though its not egregious, its still inflated. Retard Wren jumped the gun on that extension.

I love watching him play SS though, hes so slick.

This is absolutely false. The contract made him more valuable than if he were just under normal arbitration control.

1) It's not inflated at all. It's actually a great deal vs. market rates

2) It extended his team control by two seasons vs. what he would have been under arbitration control for

I wouldnt want to paying 40+ million to a player that isnt that far off from Ryan Goins in his 29 30 31 age seasons. Thats just me though.

Egregious statement.
