What I mean is there are some guys who don't project to have elite short stop defense, but could do the job, as Bichette did for many years, their defense scores sort of neutral and they can still be a 5 WAR player, and not totally piss the pitchers off. Then there are guys like Russ Adams who was throwing that s*** into the stands 5 times a week, and just wasn't playable. I get the feeling Parker is the former since the talk is move him to 3rd. I don't know for sure though.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago One thing we can say about this trade... nobody saw it coming from Atkins. Soriano being moved...sure. But to Toronto? After the Gausman trade? Wonder how the reaction would be if the Soriano trade came first... OMG we're buying??? STUPID ATKINS!!! OMG he traded Gausman AFTER getting Soriano? STUPID ATKINS!!!
JaysFan99 Verified Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Sucks we have to keep trading prospects for starting pitching since we can’t develop any. Also, our offense sucks and doesn’t seem like there’s anything in the system to look forward to. Seems like they are trying to turn us into Cleveland with good starting pitching (although they seem to be able to develop their own pitchers) and a weak offense. Jays24 1
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Didn’t really think much of Arjun. He was awful last year but had a resurgence as a prospect this Season and got himself to AA. Intriguing tools and build but he could honestly go either way. Probably good idea for Atkins to cash out on him.

SeranthonySantander Verified Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Canada would lose it if the second Indian player ended up being on the Canadian team. Smart move as sentiment in canada has shifted against Indians especially the last couple years. Didnt figure Atkins for a racist though. Maahfaace, Stangstag and Jays24 3
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago He has a decent splitter that he started throwing more this year. I wonder if Jays brass and walker see something to potentially unlock. Brownie19 1
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Soriano's pitch usage is about as even as you're going to see. For this year he's thrown his sinker 27% of the time, curve 26%, 4 seamer 24% and splitter 19% (also mixing in the odd slider at 5%). He has higher end FB velocity but it appears to be the off speed stuff driving his success
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago The movement on some of these pitches is disgusting
BTS Community Moderator Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I never really understood the Nimmala hype, but I also don't think Soriano is more than a 3/4 who frustrates people with how often his command isn't there. So meh I guess. jaysblue 1

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 46 minutes ago, Laika said: Initial reaction - dislike But now that Nimmala is an Angel all of his flaws are obvious. They were always trading him. Can't hit spin etc. Said it yesterday with the Gausman trade, this front office values contact over everything. Nimalla’s offensive profile does not fit the MO

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Soriano is a lot like Cease. If he learns to attack the strike zone better, there's more juice to squeeze out of him. BringBackTheODog 1
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I just put my Jays World Series Merch in the closest... should I pull it back out? Lol Does suck losing one of the few prospects that were touted to actually make a difference in the majors but this team needed young arms for 2027 and beyond too. We need to pull off a similar trade but for a great middle of the order bat. Does Atkins have enough ammo to make that happen too?

gruber9292 Verified Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Finally a trade that has some intriguing insight out of Atkins outside the Varland trade , or maybe Shapiro was the brains behind it. Nimmala's swing looks a bit long and I always feared he wouldn't be able to hit MLB spin. I like the fact that the SP will be set up for at least the next few years, nice trade.
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago don’t mind this deal at all. curious to see how much more the Jays staff can get out of Soriano

Cease Yesavage Soriano (Ponce) ??? long term those top three are solid and long term You can take the brackets away from Ponce's name. He's most certainly in the rotation next year if the knee is healthy, which it's expected to be. That's a nice looking rotation, although walks will be frustrating.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Atkins track record with trading prospects is very good so I’m going to look at it from that perspective. Nimmala is definitely boom or bust category so probably a higher chance of bust if he has swing and miss concerns. At this point more focused on how good Soriano is going to be.

Atkins track record with 99% of his prospects is horrible considering hes been here for 10+ years lol. Just havent produced enough high impact prospects in the majors.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Nimmala doesn't suck and posters down playing his potential are wrong. He may well develop into a viable mlb player. However Atkins strong suit is he doesn't fall in love with prospects and detaches himself from future value conjecture. This team isn't going to rebuild, they are reloading for next year. With the payroll coming off, they will buy their way back into contention. Nothing wrong with that. Stangstag, Jays24, jaysblue and 1 other 4
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago For all those who were complaining about the Gausman return, if Atkins keeps trading our top prospects... those guys move ahead in our rankings. Hes playing 4D Chess and some of yall cant even see it lol.

Would have also been nice to have a southpaw in this rotation, and Detmers comes with more upside. But yeah, not complaining about Soriano, still a solid arm.
