Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 10 Posted April 10 The Twins are on a roll right now, but don't be fooled. They're not a good team. There's some upside, but a ton of flaws. Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 10 Posted April 10 With an off day at home, I’m sure the team was on the Trajekt machine getting ready for this slop. I bet we hammer these guys.
mphenhef Verified Member Posted April 10 Posted April 10 It is not impossible when you trade every member of your bullpen the year before. The Jays have tendency not to hammer guys you think they should. Hopefully that is not the case here. Stangstag and Jays24 2
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Ah the one that gotta away vs the journeyman. I guess will see if were going to get Texas Corbin or Washington Corbin. He looked like Arizona Corbin in his Minor League outing.

A lot of people are wondering what they are even doing. But if Byron Buxton is available at all this year. Jays better be on the horn.

I mean it's just generally unheard of for a bullpen to not have even one guy who isn't a "hard thrower" these days. In ours we have Fisher who was acquired for a DFA'd Cavan Biggio, Nance who was picked off the scrap heap, and Miles who was a rule 5 pick all meeting the 94+ avg velo criteria. Half the Rockies' bullpen averages 97+. The White Sox have a number of these guys as well. Stangstag 1
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 10 Posted April 10 A bullpen where everyone has a below average fastball is SO INSANE that maybe it will work? The entire thing is a changeup. Game one of every series, all the opposing hitters will be in a trance.

Buxton doesn’t fit our MO at all, dude is a walking injury

glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Good to see DS in the lineup against a righty with Barger out. SWR only throws 92-93 mph so that's probably a big reason for it (plus the Twins pen has no velocity as mentioned) but could have easily started Lukes instead. Stangstag and Brownie19 1 1

I mentioned in the other thread, he has a 79 wRC+ since the 2nd half of last season (and then a 90 wRC+ in the playoffs batting 2nd most of the time). Thanks for the solid 2025 season, but the fairy dust is gone.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 10 Posted April 10 If anyone is going to the game tonight and wants to sell an extra bobblehead, send me a DM. Will pay a respectable price for one and could meet up somewhere next week to pick it up.

He's not a full time regular and anyone thinking he could be a starting corner OF or even land anything of significance in trade was high on something.

Thanks for the solid 2025 season, but the fairy dust is gone. Pretty sure we were saying this exact thing about Davis Schneider in 2024/early 2025. I know Lukes is older, but lets see how he does over the next couple months before saying he’s done Spanky__99 and Terminator 2
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 10 Posted April 10 As the Day 1 President of the Nathan Lukes Fan Club I feel like I am being tarred and feathered. Sadly, poor Lukes became a rookie when he was already in his physical decline years so it's possible his days are numbered and the broken clocks who never thought he was any good are finally proven right. But his 19 ABs this year nor is his performance last year (2nd half, playoffs, or otherwise), are really any sure indicator that he's cooked either. Schneider has shown worse stretches than this. He bats lefty and is a good fielder so if it's between him and Schneider against RHP you probably want to run Lukes out there more often than not. Stangstag 1
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Lukes was always a good 4th OFer who could start during his hot stretches. Even when hes not producing at the plate, you are getting good defense and a guy who sees a lot of pitches. This was supposed to be his role if we had landed Tucker and/or if Santandar stayed healthy. Dont hate the playa, hate the game lol. Stangstag 1
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 10 Posted April 10 It is interesting that Barger, Schneider, Sanchez and Lukes all project really similarly. Barger and Sanchez are toolsy and Schneider and Lukes are more approach based. I wish they would mix Barger in more at 3B against tough righties as Okamoto gets acclimated to MLB pitching. I wish Davis would play more 2B too. Stangstag 1
