The annoying thing is that the Dodgers SHOULD. Their OF is kind of poo for a team that should be elite everywhere. LF and RF both project to be just average

And they easily can.  I said from the start I expected them to sign Tucker to a short term deal and then trade Teo.

Jon Heyman was on MLB today saying that the Blue Jays have been flirting with Tucker for 2 months + and he feels if Tucker really wanted to go to Toronto he already would have.

 

I don't necessarily agree with that assumption. However, it does give me some doubt (sinking feeling) that I don't like.

 

Having said that, I am optimistic the Blue Jays will step up and give the extra year/s millions to seal the deal.

What. There's no way that's true. He would have signed it immediately. That's so far and beyond what any 2B has made before and every other team clearly has viewed him as being a risk potentially.

There's some decent pitching to be available but not nearly a much on the position player side

This situation reminds me a lot of the Santander signing last season where it was rumored all off-season that the Blue Jays were targeting him.

If there was a spot available on the 40 man, I'd love to claim Mickey Gasper who was just DFA'd by the Twins. This dude can play catcher (perhaps not overly well) in addition to 1B/2B/3B/LF, and he's a career .303/.406/.512 hitter at AAA. With two options remaining, this would be tremendous depth for Buffalo, he just seems like he was made to be a Buffalo boy

If reports are to be believed Tucker only has 3 serious suitors at the moment so it's not like all of MLB is battling for his services.

Tucker has better quality offers and probably only less because he commands more also... Don't think it is an apples and apples competitive analysis.

It's two free agent outfielders that the Blue Jays courted for the entire offseason until mid-late January when they finally chose their new club. Of course they aren't the same player but it's entirely pedantic to claim there aren't some obvious similarities to how this has played out.

The KEY difference is Santander was probably waiting it out to see if he would get a better offer, or offer he could use as leverage.. Which by all accounts never came. Tucker has received his, "better" offer if you just go by AAV and he now has an offer/s  he can leverage. 

Probably going to come down to if he wants to bet on himself and go back to FA in 2-4 years, or is over the FA process and wants the long term security. Options I don't believe were available to Santander.

Hopefully Tucker makes a decision by tomorrow at least so TOR can pivot it to Bo if Tucker doesn't sign with us.

Im almost wondering if the reports are mixed up. Like yes they added a 4th year, but its 4/150 not 4/200. Which makes more sense because 4/200 with opt outs seems like a no-brainer.

I think opt-outs are the key here, obviously Jays don’t wanna give him opt outs in the first 4 years or so. 

Maybe they end up with a structure similar to Santander, something like 8-10 years but an opt-out halfway through the deal
