  1. Vlad with the 27% walk rate 4% k rate and .000 ISO. I'm not gonna complain, he has been doing what he needs to do, excellent patience. Just funny the kind of hitter he'll occasionally turn into.
  2. What. There's no way that's true. He would have signed it immediately. That's so far and beyond what any 2B has made before and every other team clearly has viewed him as being a risk potentially.
  3. That's the second time now (BA was first) where it's been mentioned that Nimmala has great hands at shortstop. Very hopeful sign, if there's any kind of offensive breakout he's going to rocket up the lists with a defensive floor in place.
  4. So it appears that Nimmala has gone from it being unclear if he would stick at short, to now being rated the top defensive infielder in the org, described as being an above average defender at SS. That really changes his floor (and ceiling), and explains why even after a mediocre hitting year he's stayed high on everyone's lists. He doesn't need to be an elite hitter to succeed, but becoming an above average hitter with above average power would make into a star. Obviously there's still risk if his hitting never develops at all.
  5. Sure but that has mostly not been the teams hitting philosophy. This is the team that (and every person in American media has been saying for the last three weeks) does not strike out, puts the ball in play regularly and creates big innings from that. They also do walk, but in the way Vladdy and Kirk do, walking while also not striking out. Schneider has had a good year being used in the way Terminator said, but the team overall has gotten to the playoffs and the WS now by not striking out. The team was by whatever measure you want to use at worst a top 3 team at hitting this year.
  6. So I thought the same but if I was providing the reasons for why, it would be that Schneider has struck out in exactly 30% of PAs in his career and France has struck out in 18% of PAs in his career. Schneider wanted to play for the run, not for the possibility of DS maybe getting a bigger hit. He did not want a K in that situation and so went with France. Maybe you think it's better to go for a big inning than to just try and guarantee a single run here, but I do think I understand trying to just get that 4th run for sure. It provides a reasonable amount of breathing room. In that frame of thinking, I don't see why it's any kind of egregious decision. One that you can disagree with if your philosophy about what is more important is different. But going with the guy who is likelier to make contact in a situation where you want to guarantee another run in a two run game is entirely defensible I think.
  7. I just read through this thread and my God some of you are whiney. Vlad continues the historically great post season. Second most hits in a single post season now. With Bo it's amazing that he has avoided the rust of being off for weeks, jumped into playoff baseball and been consistently clutch already. I feel good about facing Snell again next.
  8. Highest K/BB ratio of all time (500 IP minimum) and it's not even close. There's a bigger gap between him and DeGrom (1.3) then there is between DeGrom and the next 30 guys on the list. List is mostly recent guys though when you drop the IP requirement to that. Bieber is 5th, Gilbert is 6th.
  9. Well this is exactly why we traded for Bieber. To give us a high ceiling starter to throw out there for a game 7 situation. Beyond this obviously being the most important game the Jays have played in decades, this is also a critical game for Bieber. He could make himself a bunch of money by coming out and slamming the door shut on the Mariners.
  10. I posted a thread on reddit a month ago about Julio. Basically saying listen this guy is a 7 WAR player stuck in a stadium that is killing him. It's Beltre all over again.
  11. Vlad with tears in his eyes after this series win. In case anyone doubted how much this mattered to him.
  12. Bullpen game was incredibly stressful but Schneider managed it. Lukes was clutch. Dominguez was great. Clement keeps raking. Vlad started things off, and made two absolutely excellent plays on defense. He was the MVP of this series no doubt.
  13. Yesavage as a late inning defensive replacement at SS.
  14. Halladay was absurd. He's got the 10 inning performance which I distinctly remember. Amazing that he only three 99 pitches. The 83 pitch complete game is also just wild. On the opposite end, I did not realise that Morrow threw 137 pitches. Don't know if we're gonna be repeating that ever again.
  15. Feels nice having ace level Gausman back.
  16. Apparently Vlad noticed after a foul ball that Altuve was running slow to third. Gave Barger a signal that he'd be throwing it there if he had the chance. Real attentive heads up baseball there.
  17. Wait am I confused or does it say 100. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/teoscar-hernandez/13066/stats?position=OF You may have looked at just before they finally updated the player pages today. They were slow on it.
  18. Great win. You've gotta love Vlad showing the hustle, setting the example for how hard you need to be going.
  19. Trey YesavageArjun Nimmala Not the best year, but I have faith in him. JoJo ParkerJohnny KingRicky TiedemannGage StaniferYohendrick PinangoJuan Sanchez I don't think it's possible for a 17 year old to have a better debut. RJ Schreck All he has done for the last two years is hit at every level. Charles McAdoo I might be one of the highest people on McAdoo but I think he's got legit power, and his performance after his first two horrific months of the season has been great. Even with the lousy two months, his numbers are well above average in AA. He's got good projections, I feel good about this, I think he's got a shot like Barger did. Josh KasevichOrelvis MartinezJake BlossVictor AriasJonatan ClaseJake CookFernando PerezSam ShawBlaine BullardTim Piasentin It's nice that even after making some deals (losing Khal, Rojas and Juaron Watts-Brown), the minors have had a good enough turnaround that you can still feel reasonably good about it. Not like the last two or three years, and that's great. There's no one I listed in my top ten where I thought to myself, I can't believe I'm having to rank this guy.
  20. Every time Manoah goes out there and doesn't s*** the bed, it's a good day given the injuries and how little overall he's pitched in that time. Just needs to keep it building.
  21. Charles McAdoo has been very very good after a horrific first two months. His numbers are still solidly above average overall in AA, but if you just look at the last three months (and considering the offensive environment in the Eastern League), he's really hit it well. His numbers from the last three months. With 14 HRs in 69 games. 280 .350 .508 .858
  22. Sometimes people don't look at the article posts (although you should), so I'm reposting this here as well about Manoah's rehab start. Did not hit anyone. Threw 75 pitches. Velocity was apparently started with velocity as 92-93 but dipped down to 90 as the game went on. Looked better at the end of it with 9 straight batters out. Gave up a solo shot in the first. Here's him getting a strikeout on his slider. https://x.com/Worden_Zach/status/1958236630390812957 He's obviously not ready to help the team or anything, but this was a much more positive looking outing than he's had generally during his rehab. Hopefully he's able to build on it.
