I like this front office but they’ve been here a while and they haven’t shown an ability to really develop starting or relief pitching compared to our current two main rivals (rays and Yankees). That’s a high bar because that might be the two best teams in baseball at it but still.

It’s kind of a weakness. With starting pitching we’ve been willing to throw money and assets at it. But with relief pitching, we are just ways behind our rivals.

It’s our Achilles heel. This lineup with rays pitching, pitching development and so on would be amazing.

We have a depth issue at starting pitching too. I sacrifice a live chicken to ensure Manoah's, Gausman's and Berrios' health before every start. We have a bit of work to do at the trade deadline. Pearson definitely has the ability to help potentially both the bullpen and the rotation if one of the guys go down, but we need to make a couple trades. I'd try and get Robertson early because Chicago has no hope of the playoffs and how much could old man Robertson cost?

It's not just pitching. Chapman, Tapia, Bichette and Hernandez need to pick it up at the plate. Why Cavan Biggio is playing at the major league level at this point Ill never get.

This is so depressing.

Can't take care of bad teams.

Can't stay competitive with good ones.

2 of our 5 starters are faltering, one on IL, and our bullpen is a mess.

Offense cannot seem to outdo the bad pitching we have.

What exactly is it about our bpen philosophy that you don't like?

They don’t seem to want to spend any money on it and think they put together one off the scrap heap because it worked once. But in reality other teams have put a focus in the bullpen. And Yankees are constantly adding to theirs. Maybe its a development issue as well because our failed starters aren’t translating to the bullpen either. Need a renewed focus on velocity and swing and miss.

Bwahahahaha Montoyo's special. Thornton and Richard combo

I feel like the lesson learned here is if you have Stripling on the hill and he's battling and you're considering bringing in Thornton or Richards, just leave Stripling in the game.

The back of the pen guys the Yankees will use tonight to finish this game will be comparable to our top guys.

Outside of Cimber, Mayza, and Romero (although less recently) I’m usually nervous as f*** in a close game.

Even Cimber makes me nervous. Sure, he works with what he has and he's had a great season but man... He's not exactly lights out.

You can’t win lol. If he left stripling in and he got rocked, the same people would be wondering why he didn’t bring in Thornton.

Their philosophy is to not spend on the bullpen. Same answer every year, bullpens are so volatile, so we will just look for someone else’s mistake.

And that is all we get, mistakes. Half this board had good options for the bullpen, and none of them were signed.

We didnt make the playoffs last year because shatkins sat on their hands for too long. And nothing has chamged.

Always like that in GDT's.

That strategy can work but you need to be really good at pitching dev and game planning like the rays are. And even then the rays are willing to trade for relief help.

We aren’t good enough at pitching dev.

Yep. It was interesting to hear an interview with Liam Hendriks last time we played the Chisox. The Jays were in on him but he basically said that the Jays were too conservative for his tastes so he signed with Chicago. They really have to re-evaluate what qualities they look for in the pen. One of the reasons I was surprised when former Jay, Bryan Barker came out of the pen for the Orioles throwing smoke against us. I wondered how could they Jays just let a hard thrower walk yet keep guys like Borucki and Thornton? They don't value hard throwers I guess.

I keep hearing the broadcast team mention that Nate Pearson needs to “earn his spot back”. I want to know how the piles of s*** coming out of the pen now have earned anything. I don’t want Nate Pearson wasting bullets in Triple-A. If he’s healthy and ready to pitch. Bring him up. He couldn’t possibly be worse than what’s currently being trotted out.

We get your point, but no one on this board would demand an appearance by Thornton.
