  1. I definitely would've kept Cameron until today and brought up Keys tomorrow.
  2. Don't know about now but I remember Lorenzen used to be legitimately fast too.
  3. No arguments that Varsho helped with our short term goals, more than Moreno would have. And yes we should include any bounty from Varsho in our valuation, along with salaries. If the FO wants to get someone to eat Varsho's salary, which is probably the smart move, the prospet return won't be great.
  4. Gausman is an extremely valuable piece to a playoff team and dumping his salary only got us bit pieces. Getting a team to eat Bieber's salary is almost certainly off the table. We would have to eat his salary just to get a lottery ticket back. Probably still worth it due to added roster flexibility for the rest of the year.
  5. Is there a consensus on Bateman's range? Being able to handle CF versus accruing value at CF changes his valuation a lot.
  6. This has some of the same earmarks as the Varsho acquisition. Soriano will be ready to add value to a playoff team right away but losing a blue chip prospect considering age, pedigree, tools, and performance in the upper minors, losing Nimmala is going to hurt. Moreno has already generated more surplus value than Varsho, with additional control remaining. But Varsho more directly allowed us to get to the World Series so we live with it. I'm hoping that is how this one turns out.
  7. Clearly getting the Cubs to eat that entire salary was the bigger priority. This could make sense if they manage to get under the penalties that have major draft implications.
  8. On the last day of the 1998 season Roy Halladay had a no hitter with 2 outs in the 9th in his second career start.
  9. They also stopped pitching him in the 9th entirely.
  10. They haven't pitched Miles since Corbin's last start. They may be planning to build up Miles for a direct swap.
  11. Used to be Ernie before he became an everyday player. Maybe Straw now.
  12. The Baez contract was a historic albatross but Baez today fills like 2 or 3 needs right away. And he has one final year on that godawful contract. If you think you can win the World Series this year, you pay to get Skubal. The team will have to play well enough to justify that.
  13. The actual doctors' diagnosis override whatever we're discussing here, but the signs aren't good as you say. The fact that Vlad asked for the golf cart immediately suggests to me that either him or Ponce heard a pop. If he has a full rupture there's a good chance they already know from the physical exam and MRI. Getting multiple opinions may be to discuss the best approach to repair surgically. From the team perspective it's best to assume he's smoked for the year, with a best case scenario of bringing him out of the pen for a playoff run.
  14. Rockies bats will be sluggish tomorrow from the Dickey effect. Schneider playing 4D chess
