I'm not sure Gurriel has much value.

Atkins will get middle of the road pen arms I think. I have no expecation for anything more.

I can't help but wonder what Kirk would be if we could just convince him salad is tasty.

He doesn’t need to eat salad to get healthy. He just needs to be at a slight calorie deficit, get on great resistance program. And up his protein and water consumption. The weight will fly off. Jays should get him a personal chef. Make sure he’s never hungry leading to binge and still eating things he enjoys.

Diets fail because people think they need to force feed themselves Salad or worse starve themselves.

Just checking in, seems the one bad inning curse as a result of using the worst relievers available isn’t a good recipe for success

That doesn't sound fun though

Yeah salad is for losers.

You get fatter eating salad because the dressing is probably s*** then you aren't satisfied so you snack like crazy.

Kirk just needs more steak

No you get fatter eating salads because you’re still hungry later and clean out you cabinets. He could absolutely enjoy lean cuts of steak most nights.

You can eat delicious meals on a diet. Especially an athlete. It’s all about hitting your macros. Lots of help available out there available for him if he’s ready to put the work in. Can completely transform his body in 8-12 months. Start seeing great results in as little as 3.

Houston almost certainly have quality pitching depth. I’d totally be down with trading Jansen for two relievers with big stuff like the rays/brewers trade last year. They could probably use a catcher.

Showcasing Moreno for a trade is working out nicely

Aren’t you the one always crying about having money for the Bo/Vlad extensions and you want to keep the underperforming guy that will have a good year before FA and get rid of the one making nothing?

Moreno for Logan Gilbert, mate. Almost the same amount of control.

If the hitting prospect is the same FV as the pitching prospect, you really need to be getting more back. Maybe Gilbert is better?

More teams in the playoff with expanded wc and those with possibility of making the wc means there will be less sellers this year. Bear that in mind if Atkins doesn't land the White Whale everyone is hoping for.

We have 5 hits. 3 from Moreno, 1 from Kirk, 1 from Chapman.

Springer/Vlad/Hernandez all went 0 for 10

Even if you had a bullpen that kept you in the game, the above simply is not going to get it done.

I am not sure what prep work they do against pitchers but that's the second time we faced him and he kept us to 2 runs on May 2nd as well.

Baltimore was more competitive against Montgomery in three games than we have been in two.

That is concerning, to me at least.

So what's it going to take for Atkins to build a bullpen that isn't complete f***ing garbage?

Year after year it's just a big pile of mostly useless s*** lol

Yeah if you don’t want to buy them, you need to develop them. But if you can’t develop them, you need to do something

The Yankees just swept the rays scoring more than 3 runs once. They scored 4 in that game. They had more than 5 hits in zero of those games.

Both Yankees and Rays have strong pens.

Rays offense is just decimated atm with something akin to 5/9 of their players under 100 wRC+.

With that in mind:

Rays commit two errors in game 1 which led to both and only runs for the Yankees.

Rays would've won game 2 if they did not commit an error + misplay leading to 3 of Yankees' runs (Higgy HR, inning should've been over two batters ago).

Game 3 was close but both teams hit terribly (not just Yankees) and it was one mistake pitch in the bottom of the 9th that lost Rays the game.

Yankees were out-hit and deserved to lose but Rays gifted them two games on errors and neither team hit well in the last one, where Holmes > Armstrong in the 9th.

---

Bullpen is definitely our prio but we need to be squaring up their 5th starter better than that, especially when you've seen him two times in a month.

Anyways, I am out; lets bring the bats tomorrow 'cause Manoah will handle the Yanks.

I don’t expect those things to happen. I just mean that you can win a surprising amount of games scoring 3 runs but you aren’t winning almost any conceding 12.
