Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 If we had Kiermaier in CF he calls off Bo and makes that catch. We go on to win that game, Game 3, and the World Series. Or Bo still runs into KK because he’s a dummy/doesn’t hear the call off. Springer was calling for it
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 $12M for Belly + $8M more if he wins comeback player of the year
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 $12M for Belly + $8M more if he wins comeback player of the year I would be okay with that incentive. If he wins comeback player of the year, he likely hits 30+ HR's and posts a 4 WAR season.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 $12M for Belly + $8M more if he wins comeback player of the year How about 10 million bonus for top 5 MVP voting
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 How about 10 million bonus for top 5 MVP voting Sure tack that on as well. Give the guy extra motivation. Contract year plus sizable incentives.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 I thought of the Mattingly connection but Bellinger wasn't up in the Majors when he was manager so didn't think anything of it. Same here. Most I would go on Belly is 15M. He should settles somewhere for $12-15M. Anything close to $20M for a guy who has struggled for three seasons is asking too much. I would offer in the 12-15 M range, with incentives that could get him to 20 Mil . Then we can give him a QO since he has not received one. If he leaves you get more than the Dodgers got for him.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 I like the no training wheels approach. If he continues to dominate be aggressive. With that being said we still need a Starter.
Key22 Verified Member Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 I was thinking about Carlos Correa -- He's a better overall shortstop than Bichette is he not? Why not sign him to a $280/8 year deal - Bo and Vlad are going to cost in this vicinity only Correa is a better shortstop. Then you have Bo as a pretty massive trade chip to get you a starter and a "miss bats" reliever and some prospects. Or you move Vlad (ditto Bo's contract) move Bo to 2b and find a competent 1B bat. When Atkins talks run prevention and then has one of the worst defensive shortstops in the league manning the most important defensive position maybe you have to think outside the box.

This isn't a bad train of thought. I think Trollosi mentioned a scenario like this about a month ago. Among the top tier FAs I like Correa a lot.

I brought this up as a remote possibility a few days ago. It really depends on how the FO perceives their ability to sign Bo long term, as opposed to Bo bolting to FA at the first opporunity. This is the only reason sufficient to break up the core. Even though these guys are professionals there is still team camaraderie.

The Iceman Verified Member Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Not much chatter about FA Jurickson Profar but as a switch hitter a good fit for our lineup IMO.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Ronald Acuna Jr. Trade values site shows it as an even match. Braves do need a SS if they lose Swanson.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Trade values site shows it as an even match. Braves do need a SS if they lose Swanson. Yeah. They only have Vaughn Grissom, but everything I've read says he's going to land at 2B or corner OF defensively. Bichette + Jansen for RAJ. Sign Correa. The WS will be easy to win.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 The OF defense is going to be fantastic No longer have to pray that every fly ball goes to Springer

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Kevin Pillar signing imminent... AJ Pollock, or Adam Duvall
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 A cheap RHH outfielder now. Pollock would be great he mashed lefties last year.

Yeah, 161 wRC+ vs lefties last year, 130 for his career. If he's the right price he could definitely be ideal. Absent that type of pickup I suspect though we'll see Merrifield out there replacing one of them against lefties with Espinal playing 2b. That would be pretty decent. Merrifield career aginst lefties is 115 and Espinal 125.
