Is there much of a chance that Yesavage could become that or is he more of a finished product (as I've heard he's super advanced)?

Yesavage certainly has the potential to be an elite guy.

The comments are painful... lol

What, you think it's a bad idea to call up the 18 year old with a 34% K rate and sub .300 OBP in A ball?

Can Will Wagner play anywhere but 2B/LF?

Hopefully he has some defensive versatility. I don't expect the bat to be good enough at the big league level to start but might have value as a utility player who covers a bunch of positions.

That's a pretty powerful swing. Reminds me of Orelvis a bit.

Yeah you hope he figures out the contact issues cause that is a lot of power for an 18 year old.

He's played every IF position as a professional but primarily 2B/3B/1B. His swing, not the setup but the physical swing, reminds me a lot of Daniel Murphy.

So as far as I can tell Nimmala has the most HR's of any player 18 or younger in the minors this year.

His .250 ISO is also by far the best for any teenager that's played in A ball or higher this year. Obviously the strikeouts are a huge concern, but that power is unmatched for his age right now.

The power is super impressive. Hopefully the plate approach improves, but he's sure got time for it at this age.

Nice to see Nimmala showing some good signs, but Bonilla? Woof.

High failure rate on those signings, but even by those standards, he's been worse than basically the entire top 20 list of international signings that year.

.375 ISO since he got promoted back to A ball

There is a kid with Pittsburgh, Axiel Plaz, who is 18 and has a very similar line this year in the FSL.

Other than that over the last few years the most similar line is probably Orelvis Martinez. He had more hits, higher AVG, but he was also a full year older.

Nice to see them finally roll the dice on a high ceiling guy like Nimmala. If we are going to run Top 5-10 payrolls I kind of like the strategy of trying to hit home runs through the farm system. We can sign 2 WAR guys whenever we want.

Will Wagner is 26 and demolishing AAA. Probably should take a look at him in the Big Leagues.

Where is Will Warren playing? DH?

Did you mean to say Will Wagner? He's been starting at second base for Buffalo so far. I wonder how the team would handle his playing time if brought up to the majors? Horwitz largely seems to entrenched at second base, but perhaps Vlad could spend more time at third base, and there should be plenty of DH at bats available as well.

Freely admit, after the first two months of the season, I didn’t have Nimmala as the brightest point in the Jays system.

Don’t know who it was, wasn’t much there, but it wasn’t him.

Any recent reports on his defence?

Ya wrong Will

I haven’t read anything good about his defence. A bat first prospect with limited versatility. I’d have to imagine they give him a look at third since Ernie Clement is getting most of the starts there right now

And Orelvis really struggled when exposed to more advanced pitching.

Not a lot of players with this profile teenage power hitters who hit .220 and strike-out 1.3 times a game...

a) just a rare bird

B) the coach's know this isn't the right way to start off so most young hitter are encouraged to develop as a hitter, so you get guys from Trout, to EE, to Danny Jansen, to Teoscar, to Vlad, hitters of all skills who are coached in such a way they hit .320 with 12 homers, or .280 with 8 homers, or something like that as a teenager then add the power later.

I'm going on and on about his, but lots of guys add power as they advance, anecdotally it seems the guys that start with power and high k-rates aren't as successful long term.

Just stat scouting not many of the big power guys make it. Connor Griffin, older guy obviously, Brandon Wood from way back.... Kelenic even? Josh Phelps?

I'm picking random guys from all over the place. Phelps actually started without power. Just as a stat-scouter of many years seems you hear a lot of stories of the big power guy with 150 ks in 120 games and 29 homers and then they don't make it.

The great hitters hit .320 with 9 homers as teenagers... nothing is black and white though.
