When Taters comes back they should just dump Jesus Sanchez. I can't take anymore of him.

I suspect there's a chance Santander knows he may not hit many more HRs in his life and thus is going to start enjoying the trot.  I know I did near the end of my playing career.

My only HR in house league was an inside-the-park home run and the team was only playing two outfielders. Had to run my heart out to cross the plate.

In elementary school, we had a Catholic school and public school that shared the same building. s*** was competitive on the shared playground at lunchtime between the two.

During one lunchtime game, I hit a walk-off three run home run on the schoolyard baseball diamond for the Catholic side after the guy before me got hit with a first pitch off his head.

We celebrated, I was a hero. Then there was a brawl. Let's just say there were always unnecessary but very real racial undertones between the Public and Catholic schools.

Good f***ing Times😅

1st in the Cy or second... Cease has had Cy Young caliber season. Whether he wins the award based on a few points of ERA is immaterial really. The two are as close in results as you can possibly be almost. There's no reason why Schlittler should clearly win, also no reason why Cease should clearly win. It's a 2-horse race and should be a split decision.

For Cease though, finishing second in the Cy costs him 25 grand since his contract Cy bonus is 150k, 2nd place is 125k. Already banked 50k for the AS selection.

NL Cy is much fun even though the Misiorowski dominance narrative is overblown. Chris Sanchez is right there with him and the race is certainly not as slam dunk as people would have you believe. Even Sale and Luzardo should be in the conversation though Sale's IP totals might cost him. Overall I'd still say the Miz wins, but dismissing everyone else to 2nd place just cuz 100mph is kinda silly.

I think Schlittler ends up getting the Cy Young in the AL. His ERA potentially could be below 2, has made 30 starts (3 more than Cease), and has a lower BB/9 (2.12 vs. 3.74). Cease definitely had a Cy Young caliber year himself, but I think Schlittler deserves it more.

As for the NL, I still think Miz wins but there are definitely other solid contenders for sure. Luzardo, Sale, Sanchez (not sure his last start helped him though).

Some arms to keep an eye on for next season: Detmers, Tolle, and Gavin Williams in the AL. For the NL, Burns, Cavalli, and Meyer.

Seems like a nice gesture from the organization to reward this lifelong minor leaguer who's been below average in AAA.  It's not like we're trying to make the playoffs or anything.

Hmm does this mean Springer is going to the IL?

Rudy is another lefty outfielder, I assume he'll just be a warm body for the bench until Taters is ready or until Springer returns? Can pinch run or be a defensive replacement.

He's not on the 40-man though so we'll need to make a move. Maybe Taillon to the 60-day IL?

Definitely Springer to the IL, that shoulder is broke, same reason he hasn't played the OF I believe. Brutal.

That's odd, I thought he didn't play the OF because Schneider is a moron who should be fired?

I thought Taillon was back throwing?  Taillon, Beiber and Yesavage all are I believe - trying to save us all from another Spaghetti and/or Lorezen outing that will no doubt cost us a playoff spot.

I guess it makes sense, if Santander eventually returns Sanchez has no role. Whenever that time is I'd assume Martin jr. gets DFA'd.

He had a few big hits but has no place on the team with both Springer and Santander around

Bingo, bat was fine, defense went from bad to horrawful. Can't have that on this team.

No one ever said Schneider should be fired for not playing Springer in the outfield regularly.

It's just the whole way the Vlad/Springer/Okamota/Keys playing time has been allocated that gets me.  Seems bizarre that Bo can play second on one knee, Varsho can play center essentially throwing 70 mph and his shoulder messed up, but Springer couldn't have played 10 more games in the outfield?

Springer has some lingering issue so can't play outfield.  Vlad loses all power but can't be rested an extra time a week.

So obviously his throwing arm is f***ed, olerud, wake up. Look at his base running man? He's held back for something very obvious.

Brendon Little since coming back from AAA (July 20)

20 IP

14.85 K/9

6.75 BB/9 (Still too high)

2.25 ERA

2.60 xERA

3.35 FIP

2.80 xFIP

The guy appears to be a weapon again. We all hoped his off season adjustments would take from the beginning of the season, but he had to work things out in AAA first for a bit I guess.
