If the CBA next season is mostly the same, then I think Tucker wouldn't be crazy for taking 3/150. It hedges against injury, but also if he opted out then he would enter next off-season as by far the best player except without a QO and with teams having more clarity on what the financial implications of the CBA actually are.

Of course, we'd have to know what the Jays offer is to compare it to 3/150. The Jays typically work in silence, so the fact that these leaks are mentioning the Mets specifically makes me think it's for leverage reasons, but who knows. Best thing about this is that we are hopefully close to the finish line. At this point I don't care where Tucker goes as long as it's over and everyone can move on.

It's overpaid for Tucker, he don't worth 50m annualy. If we can get Bellinger 35 m annualy for 6-7 years will be better invest than overpaid for Tuck for similar offensive stats. Or maybe trade with the Cards for 2B Brendan Donovan, so we can keep Clement at 3B, Barger/Lukes RF, and Santander/Okamoto LF.

2B-Donovan

3B-Vlad

RF-Barger

LF-Santander

3B-Clement

The Bregman deal changed things for these FAs. He's entering his age 32 season and just got 5/155M.

If Tucker signs for 3/150, that allows him to enter FA again as a 32 year old where he probably thinks he can get a Bregman deal. That would put the total at 8 for 305M.

A straight up 8 for 305 from the Jays is obviously worth more than the 3/150 + hypothetical Bregman deal after. But if the Mets are throwing in opt outs that makes the 3/150 even more enticing.

No matter how you slice it, it's going to take a massive offer to beat 3/150

No one should be allowed to sign for 50m when the lowest payroll in baseball is 70m but here we are lol.

I don't think it's 3/$150.

It might be $50M in 2026, then a player option for 2027 and 2028

And that 70m team is going to get a nice extra chunk of change from the team that signs the 50m per year deal.

i f***ing hate that the yankees are a smart org. why can't they just be like the angels and spend a lot of money in a dumb way.

Lot of low end talent going back to Miami, and while I think it’s dumb to sell on Weathers like this, he’s also just injured all the time. Probably would have been better off just waiting to see if he had a healthy first half of the season and sold high.

Wow so Grant is no longer on this board anymore. Crazy.

Wonder if he posts as someone else.

His type of psychosis would be virtually impossible to mask

His outright hatred of the Red Sox would lead to him outing himself in relatively short order.

Looking at the HoF voting, I kind of feel like K-Rod deserves more of a push:

  • 6th all-time in saves
  • 11th all-time in reliever WPA and 13th in RA-9 WAR (worse in WAR because his ERA was a lot better than his FIP)
  •  12th all-time time in reliever Ks
  • single-season saves record (62)
  • played a major role on a world series winning team

I think all things considered he's right there with Jansen, Kimbrel, and Chapman and I think 2-3 of those guys eventually get in.

It's wild to me that he was saving 44 games in 2016 throwing 90 MPH...

Has velo changed that much in 10 years?  I guess it has?

I was thinking that when I was looking at his page. Even in his prime he was sitting 94, and I remember him having electric stuff. I would have guessed he was throwing like 98-100

100%  I'll never forget 2002 when he came up and dominated in the playoffs after throwing like 5 regular season innings.  He was the definition of electric.

I know they changed how/where they measure velo from.  I suspect that is part of it, but guys just throw harder now than ever before.

I remember K-Rod's debut well. I was a freshman in college in California and drove to the WS and was at the game where David Bell tagged him for a 2-run single to take the lead. First time anyone put a dent in him I believe.

Feels like teams were trying to hold the line on contracts for the big bats but are now panicking and looking at the next two free agency classes and we might see some silly numbers

4/$200 for Tucker
8/$240 for Bo
6/$180 for Belllinger

stuff like that

I'm OK with either of those deals for Tucker or Bo.
