This is where I disagree.  From various reports, the Phillies thought they actually had a deal with Bo with their 7/200M offer.  That doesnt sound like a team that was expecting the Jays to get him.

If that were the case, we would have already heard the Jays were pissed instead of the Phillies.  The fact we havent even gotten the Jays offer to Bo yet seems telling.

Now id love to know whether it was the Jays undervaluing Bo to not even want to offer 7/200 or Bo just not wanting to comeback.  Im sure we'll find out soon.

Maybe it will be in Keegan's next book

This is all conjecture, bro. No one knows.

Haha. Deal 🤝

Making a bet to go against your favorite team makes the viewing experience less fun.  It should be something drastic to do that lol.

Man what is your issue?

Like seriously, last two responses you made towards my posts, you're going back to your old habits that made you one of the most insufferable and arrogant posters on this board.

You don't have to agree with me on everything I say and that's fine. But stop with the arrogance.

I just answered the question.  Clement is literally projected to have a wRC+ of 100 and you're acting like there's no way in hell that's a possibility.

Lighten up a bit and try not to fall back into your negative ways.

Now now Term - I aint tryin' to take nobody's job around here.  Just doing my civic duty.  You're Mr. Lahey around this trailer park.  I'm happy to be Randy.  I just need a few cheeseburgers every now and then.

He calls himself the Sheriff, but Term is absolutely the Ricky of this forum

I meant we dont win the division last year without Bo... hell yes I believe that.  We almost self-destructed when he got injured.  Need to remember that the whole fanbase was blasting Vlad for being a ground ball machine prior to the playoffs.

While true, you could say that about a lot of players on the roster.

In the case of Bo, just replacing him with Gimenez at SS probably results in no more than a 2 WAR difference. We just need to make that 2 WAR up somewhere else

trailer park boys ricky GIF by ollie

That's actually not a bad comparison.

  • Good looking with a full head of hair
  • Devout but misunderstood family man
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Always optimistic
  • Loyal to the boys
  • Likes his smokes

I'd say the main difference is that Ricky is usually living in his car but sometimes stays with friends. I have lived in my car on occasion (it's a 2009 Chevy Suburban so it's a lot nicer and more roomy) but I usually stay with friends.

So what's the rest of the offseason look like? Are we pretty much done?

2+ WAR players across the diamond make it so it'd take a pretty big acquisition to improve the team. Small stuff we could tinker with:

  • Bench looks a little OF heavy but it could still work with Barger being able to move the INF
  • Leo Gimenez is out of options.
  • Late inning arm would be nice but that just pushes a worthwhile arm off the 40-man

I wonder if the Jays are "clickbait" online or drive engagement.  Because here is the MLB Network gang driving up interest re: Jays

Steve Phillips says that it is down to 3 teams for Belli: Yanks, Mets and Jays. lol.

It would be funny if Belli is the one this FO signs, as you really haven't heard much about the Jays' interest.

We know for a fact they Jays were interested last time he was a free agent, before he signed w the Cubs. So i wouldn’t be surprised if they are actively trying to sign him. He’s really the only player available rn that could move the needle aside from Valdez.

Even if I don't like Bellinger it would be fun to get him for even money with the Yankees offer, or slightly more.

Maybe the narrative could be that he went to Toronto because he was frustrated the Yankees were being so cheap with him. Or he wanted to win so he chose Toronto. I would enjoy the stories.

Bellinger fits in nicely with the doesn’t like to strike out and defensive versatility. He can rotate through 1B and the entire Outfield. I don’t think I want to see him signed for more than 3 years. But apparently he wants long term and values that more. So if he is going to be a Blue Jay I think at the minimum they gotta meet the Yankees at 5-years.

That is factually incorrect! We were 79-60 with Bo last year or .568 winning percentage. We were 15-8 without him or .652 wp. We went through he Yankees and Mariners in the play-offs without him so it's not like the team struggled mightily without him like you infer. Add in Okamoto, the potential return to normal for Santander, and hopeful progression of Barger, we still have a pretty formidable offense. Add in the the improved SP and BP, we're in good shape heading into 2026. Tucker would have been nice but I'll take a more complete Okamaoto at $15M and his projected 2 - 2.7 war over $47M Bo every day of the week.

Long term for Belly would be a disaster IMO.  Probably the main sticking point with the Yankees.

Give him a long-term deal with opt-outs and hope he opts after a great year.

Everyone wins.

Outlining all your potential progressions while neglecting all the potential regressions is too homer of a take for me.  No one wanted Bo at 47M but its already been confirmed that we didnt even want Bo at the contract Philly offered at 7/200M.

Obviously the Jays are still a good team without Bo but he is a difference maker on offense and would have been pretty good defensively at 2B.  The Jays took a step back offensively by losing him.
