Game 1 of the World Series is Friday with an 8 pm Eastern start time at Rogers Centre. The starters will be Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell and Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage.

Snell enters with a 0.86 ERA across 21 postseason innings with 28 strikeouts and a 0.52 WHIP over three starts. His 2025 postseason has been defined by strike throwing, and his changeup has generated 58 swings with a 65.5 percent whiff rate.

Yesavage has worked 15 postseason innings with 22 strikeouts and a 4.20 ERA. The rookie set a Blue Jays single-game postseason record with 13 strikeouts in the ALDS, then followed with 5 2/3 innings and two runs allowed in his most recent start to force an ALCS Game 7.

On the Dodgers’ side, Shohei Ohtani leads the club in OPS this postseason at .967, with 5 home runs in 41 at-bats. Teoscar Hernández is next among regulars at .887 OPS, and Mookie Betts sits at .809. Among Dodgers with at least 30 at-bats, Andy Pages has the lowest OPS at .249 (3-for-35).

The pitching matchup features a lefty starter against a righty-leaning Toronto order that has leaned on Guerrero’s power and Clement’s contact rates this month, while Los Angeles pairs Snell’s run prevention with a top of the order producing on base and slug from Ohtani and Betts. Yesavage’s strikeout totals provide a counter with swing-and-miss, and his most recent 5 2/3-inning effort put him in position for a full workload in this opener.

Toronto’s lineup has been paced by Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who owns a 1.440 OPS with 6 home runs in 43 at-bats this postseason. Ernie Clement follows at 1.063 OPS, while George Springer is at .930. Among Blue Jays with at least 30 at-bats, Alejandro Kirk has the lowest OPS at .753; other regulars include Addison Barger at .889, Daulton Varsho at .804, Andrés Giménez at .764, and Nathan Lukes at .791.

"It's a little bit of a leap," Schneider said about Bichette potentially making his second-base debut in the World Series. "He's pretty realistic about how he feels and how he will feel if he's out there. So it's something we got to continue to work through. I think that if he feels comfortable doing it, I'm going to listen to players and trust them."

Game 1 is against Snell.  He torched us in the regular season and he's even better now.  You have to throw everything out the window.  All the most recent stats and how guys are running do not matter.  We have to get him out of the game.  Stack righties, bring in the lefties once we get into the pen.

Springer RF, Schneider 2B, Vlad 1B, Bo DH, Kirk C, Clement SS, Lukes LF, IKF 3b, Varsho.

Schneider batting 2nd not Clement.  Clement swings early and often and Snell won't put anything in the zone and clement puts the ball in play off balls outside the zone.  Schneider has better pitch recognition and might work a walk. He'll see more pitches.  Lukes lefty righty splits weren't that significant.  He's making good contact this post season, so he's in.  Varsho is an auto out.  He's been better against lefties this year.  Most i leave him 5th or 6th, but he's an auto out against Snell.

Interesting lineup but have we ever seen Varsho in the 9 hole?  I don't believe so.

Varsho is due for one of his hot streaks where he hits a bunch of bombs.  Tomorrow would be a great time to start.

No way do they put Varsho in the 9 hole, he scuffled in the LCS, but that ain't happening. He's either batting 5th or 6th, which is fine considering his power.

Varsho has a higher OBP against lefties than he does righties this year.  SSS alert though.

Literally who woulda thought at the start of the year the Jays would be in the World Series with home field advantage. One game at a time, lets get it boys

Unfortunately I'm going to end up missing the biggest game in 32 years due to prior commitments.

f***ing tough task for the boys, Snell is particular looked unhittable when we faced them in Los Angeles, there's no sugar coating the task at hand with their starters.

Good luck to the boys. A game one win would be absolutely massive to set the tone and announce our presence.

Let's Go Blue Jays!
