Shitter's last 4 starts have been outstanding. Gausman's been mostly good lately.

Bednar threw over 30 pitches yesterday so he might not be available even though it was the only game he pitched in the series.

Our pitching has got to show up for this series because trying to outslug them, especially in Yankees stadium, is a bad strategy.

Just do the same thing as before

Grind out the at bats so the starters can't go deep. Put the ball in play and let Anthony Volpe and Jasson Dominguez and Outfield Stanton kick the ball around. Hit some dingers off Williams, Weaver, and Doval.

Bednar and Fernando Cruz are the tough relievers right now.

Come from behind and win every game 9-6

2 out of 3 would be ideal, but realistically as long as we win at least 1 game in the Bronx were still is pretty good shape. Tonight's game is probably the most winnable with Gausman on the hill and the Yankees starting a rookie pitcher. I'll be satisfied with taking 1 game, as long as we don't get swept, were still in great shape to win the division.

Varsho + short right field porch = happiness 😌

Good thing the Yankees don't have any guys who can take advantage of that right field porch 😉

It doesn't always feel this way as there are a few stinkers mixed in but Gausman's stretch over his last 12 starts is really damn good as a whole. He's thrown 74 innings of 2.77 ERA/3.38 FIP baseball. The strikeouts never came all the way back as he's averaged 8.80 K/9 in this period but he's been pitching like a borderline number 1 starter for 2+ months which is a good sign heading into the stretch run.

Yeah I'm aware he's been pitching closer to the pitcher he used to be even if he's not all the way there. On paper this might be our best chance in the series but he still won't be the favorite in tonight's matchup, we won't be the favorite in any of the three matchups on paper at least. Scherzer vs Gil maybe is a bit of a wild card.

Stating the obvious here, but we desperately need to win at least 1. Getting swept would be a nightmare, winning 1 ensures we're still 2 games ahead, winning 2 puts us in the driver's seat, and a glorious sweep would just about ensure the Yankees aren't winning the division and skyrocket our division odds.

Our starters have to be good and we need to keep scoring late in the game.

No lead is safe against this team in this ballpark with this bullpen right now

Thankfully the Yankees are having the same kind of issues in their pen so if the Jays can get the Yankees starters out of the game reasonably early this may give them a shot to run up the score a bit.

Chisholm left the last Yankees game with a knee contusion. He may not be available tonight either. Their bullpen is kind of spent as well so opportunity is knocking right now for tonights game.

Don't get swept. As long as the Jays win 1 of the 3, they should be reasonably fine as they'd still have a 2 game lead (3 counting the tiebreaker), but I think 2/3 puts the Jays in the driver's seat. The Yankees schedule is super easy after this HOU/TOR/DET/BOS stretch, while the Jays don't have an easy opponent left other than the O's who have clobbered Jays pitching all year, so the more distance between the two teams by Monday morning would obviously be the best scenario. If the Jays get swept, then it's likely a WC spot in their future.

Goes without saying, big f'n series.

Hopefully he misses some games this series. The guy is Babe Ruth at home (164 wRC+ at home vs. 98 on the road) with the short porch in right.

Cam "Adolf" Shitler has been on fire lately.

He throws really hard so I would not be surprised to see IKF (one of the best in baseball on BA against high velo) get the start tonight.

Clement can hit a fastball too.  I'd rather see IKF planted on the pine.

I heard he had contusions on both knees.  Lol.

Maybe he was doing too much praying.🙏

I'm sure all Yankee fans are saying the same about the Jays.

They showed the numbers on Sportsnet the other day and it was shocking at how good IKF is against high velo (97+ mph).

He's got BA's over .300 which makes him elite and Top 5ish in baseball. Clement may be good but I don't think he is anywhere close to that.

I would like to see the numbers but I don't know how to work Statcast well enough to figure it out.

And I suppose IKF sucks at hitting everything else so if he did get in the game Shitler could just spam his breaking balls and get him out that way.

So I'm not necessarily even saying it's a good idea but don't be surprised if he draws a start tonight.

Absolutely. I don't think either fanbase should feel super confident heading into this series as the Jays are among MLB's best offenses/comeback teams, and the Yankees are playing at home in a bandbox stadium where they club a million home runs against a pitching staff that allows a ton of home runs.

I’m blaming you if this happens.

I knew I was going to get tarred and feathered for it but I wanted to let people know in advance to help stem the outrage lol

Here's another thing you guys are going to tar and feather me for:

Don't be surprised to see Ryan Borucki get put into the game in a BIG spot against a lefty.

Lefties are 2 for 41 (both singles) against his Slider/Sweeper on the year.

Borucki sucks against righties so they will need to be careful with pinch hitters and the 3-batter rule. But if Bellinger is up with 2 outs and runners on, Borucki very well could get the call.
