It’s done. I can’t believe they made him the 3rd highest paid Baseball player in the history of Baseball but here we are.

Now what kind of team can they put around that mammoth contract that will be extremely difficult to live up to.

Have to resign Bo next. You can’t let him walk now.

I'd like to see Bo extended as well. Hopefully he's willing to sign a little more reasonable extension compared to the mega bucks Vlad insisted upon though.

This contract is deserving of a player who has consistently performed at his 2021/2024 levels.  Jays are pissing away 250/7 at the backend assuming he actually plays up to 250/7 in the front-end.

For the record, I would have overpaid Alonso on a 5 year deal and traded Vlad for some win now players than agreeing to this deal.

Well I guess the org saw it as a no choice scenario. Let the marketing begin.

Let's hope he doesn't get fatter.

Gahd damn it. Don't like this at all.

He will be the most hated player on the team for a long time if he isn't an absolute stud every year.

I hope I'm exaggerating but this feels like potentially the worst baseball contract ever

Welp Vlad will be a Jay until my first born is 18

Crazy commitment by Rogers. Shapiro and Atkins probably new extensions too

Strictly by baseball standards, the total guarantee is a tad high for a player who's had two elite years so far in his career and has shown flashes otherwise. That being said the amount of years stretches it to a pretty reasonable $35.7M AAV and shouldn't stop us from building around him financially

Close to what he is getting this year. Now the team needs to commit to actually building a powerhouse, instead of nickle and diming a 250+M roster somehow

It is kind of freighting he only has hit one homer since spring training began. And he’s gotten a ton of hittable pitches.

Wonder when fans will start to boo him.

It's kind of frightening that he's spent half his career lost at the plate and is one of the dumbest players to ever play the game.

I'm getting Vernon Wells vibes, I hated that contract too and I was right about him.

Horrible, horrible deal. Been a lifelong Jays fan since the early 80's and I've seen every high (b2b WS) and low (pretty much 94-2015) and I feel like this will be very quickly something to lament. 14 years!?? Why couldn't we just wait till the offseason and offer Tucker this crazy deal? I would have much rather cut ties with Vladdy, he's way too inconsistent and lacks any semblance of baseball IQ. I feel like Jays fans are in a world of hurt for a loooooong time.

Pros: he’s young enough to accumulate counting stats that might make him a Hall of Famer if he stays healthy, so a forever Blue Jay making it someday would be pretty cool.

Cons: everything else. Horrible contract that will age really badly unless Vlad has a David Ortiz career arc (he won’t).
