Ya, maybe. But I always believe that in any business, after enough runway and sample size, primary accountability rests at the top.

Oh I agree with that. If I could only can one guy it would be Atkins because he ultimately provides Schneider with the pieces of the puzzle. I’ve just never got the impression that the players would go through a wall for John so to speak

Even though it's well known he prefers right field, but in the infield, he prefers the left side of the field at third base. It can be funny that way sometimes.

it's because 3rd and right is where you want the strongest arms, and he has a gun

This is not about Schneider. This is about Shapiro and Atkins. They have built this team. When they had great offense a few years ago, they had a terrible bullpen. Took them two years to fix that. Then they lose in the playoffs because of their terrible defense, so they fix that by sacrificing offence. So now this is year two of a terrible offensive team and they did nothing to fix it.

Under Shapiro’s reign with Cleveland he managed toget a team to win the central ONCE.

He was a terrible hire, he was a big fish in a little pond and I hated the hire then, and nine or ten years later, I hate it even more.

I never thought I would say this, but I hope the Jays continue to lose and all those lovely new seats with cupholders are empty and finally Rogers will step in and fire the lot.

Please try to understand what Shapiro does vs what Atkins does.

The only thing i’d fault Shapiro for is keeping Atkins for too long. Ultimately the product on the field is his responsibility, but Atkins constructed this roster.

No, actually I was furious. He was officially CUT from Team Not Panicking after the Astros series a month ago. It was all very public after Spanky and I made the decision.

Now he exists in this permanent semi-troll state (kind of like me) where idiots such as yourself take him far too seriously and end up making themselves mad online over someone's take on a baseball board.

You probably missed all of this because you were on another time out after a zany rant for not being able to use the R and F words again.

You’re like the Dollar General Laika. You want to be him so bad but just don’t have the same charisma

I don’t use either of those words. At least you agree both are bad 😃

Size of the sampling is big enough and time is long enough to say that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is just an average player. Why do we still hear people are expecting him to play better?

I have different information about this from very good sources. Ross is the face of roster construction but Shapiro is involved and has to sign off on anything material. Shapiro has to get the budget/payroll approved by the Board, and agree/sign off on an FA deal etc. There is no corporate world where the CEO, who is ultimately accountable, where this is not the case. He is the puppeteer.

Sorry, but this started last june. I havent gone back and counted, but I think they lost 13 or 14 games last year by one run. This year they are losing by much bigger margins. Everyone knows this team is not improving. This is not just “oh well it is just a slump. The players on this team are not capable of turning this around, and there is not much coming in the minors.

And this year I thought surely they would fix the offence, so the day the Mariners tickets came on sale for early buyers I spent $2800 on tix to take the kids and grands to see the jays. My grandson who is 7 loves Vladdy and the Jays and I promised I would take him to see him.

Sorry to rant and usually I just read, but today has finally pushed me over the edge.

I never for one minute thought they would go with the same team. NEVER

Well you’re not alone, I don’t think many thought they would run it back with the same team but here we are. It’s mind numbing at this point

You are a rockstar grandma though and you’ll have a happy crew of kids win or lose! Seattle series would be awesome to go to

I know what each of their jobs entail, but after they are both finally fired, it will come out how much Shapiro actually had to do with trades, hires etc. if you read anything of his tenure in Cleveland, nothing happened without Shapiro being involved. He didnt come to Toronto to have less control

This doesn't surprise me. Shapiro seems very hands on - as he should be.

Managers are hired to be fired. But I don’t think John is cut out for managing at the highest level. Honestly it has looked like he lost the clubhouse going back to last year

Neither JS or Buntoyo resembled anything close to managers at the highest level. I think it speaks more to Atkins for hiring them than it does about them specifically. A high end decision maker hiring two managers that look like they have no business being in the dugout isn't a good sign. I'm not sure firing JS will accomplish anything. They'll just hire another guy just like him/Charlie who will follow orders.

If the "run prevention" is going to regress, then this team is in trouble. They basically needed a repeat of the 2023 pitching (SP and bullpen), and it doesn't appear either one is going to repeat that. The offense doesn't have much upside either, especially if Springer is closer to washed than he is to being productive. The best hitters on the team (now and likely by the end of the season barring injury) are both FA's after this season. It's hard to look at 2024-25 with any sort of optimism.

Dollar store version of something normally means a cheaper, cheaply made, inferior product to the original.

So i think he’s saying you’re a shittier version of Laika

Don't get too excited. The village welcher is the one that said you had charisma, not me (the highly respected Sheriff and #2 in command of Team Not Panicking Yet).

Yes I am the welcher but at the very least I’m not the one who would run into Laika if he stopped to tie his shoes

I think Terminator just gets upset that so many people were able to see through this offseason while he celebrated the club’s big additions in IKF and KK

Where's Spanky to provide me the team's wRC+ to show the offense is good. Term is trying to hold Team Not Panicking down alone lol.

First off, I don't care if they fire every single person in the front office and replace them with BJMB members, I just want a winning team.

But I'm going to ask this what feels like the 5,678th time....please tell me what in the flying f*** the FO was supposed to do to "fix" the offense?

They tried for Soto in a trade, too much to give up for one year of Soto. They threw $700 million at Ohtani.

After that there was sweet f*** all that they missed out on. Everything left after Ohtani and Soto was just more question marks, not a damn thing that was for sure going to "fix" the offense.

I probably would have used the KK money to try and bring back one of Lourdes or Teo. Tyler Oneill was a cheap option that has been fantastic so far. Pederson.

Make a trade for a 3B or something. IDK, but they didn’t do a good enough job at addressing the #1 issue from last year. They honestly barely tried.

100% - that KK and IKF money should have gone towards signing Teo back.

You guys realize it probably takes a fat multi year deal to sign Teoscar, right? He's not picking the Jays over the Dodgers at even money
