Turns out having a bare cupboard is fine if you know where the grocery store is

I edited more in after that. But yeah, and when you can restock it lets you deal effectively for more talent. We can't deal for more talent cause who the hell wants our nothing prospects. 2022 and 2021 have produced barely anything. Tiedeman aside we've got nothing to use now to deal with the fact that we can't hit at all.

Who on earth wants to deal for zero power Toman/Kasevich/Roden. Those guys have like a combined slugging of .002 or so. Barriera may as well be done, we have to hope he can one day pull things together, but he has no value as a trade chip now.

We gotta dream on Trenton Wallace putting up great numbers at 25 in AA.

How much are game tix going for these days?

I’ve found the past couple years it’s always cheaper to buy on stubhub a couple hours before gametime. Unless its a coveted giveaway day or something.

But usually about 20ish bucks for good 500s seats or 30ish bucks for good OF or Side seats in the 200s.

Haven’t tried the new 100s yet

I saw on one thread a discussion about the 2005 Jays and I wanted to respond but couldn't find exactly where it was.

2005 Jays are very interesting. 775 runs on 136 homers and a bit of luck. 775 runs would be an outstanding total for 2024. And I think this is the type of offense Jays brains thought they could create. I think what we see is a result of the great Jays minds thinking about this problem a lot and figuring out what they thought was a good way to score 775 runs.

Get the team to hit .260 or so, with a .335 on base, .400 slugging, great baserunning and you get 750 runs or so even with only 140 homeruns.

They are indeed on track for 140 homers, but only hitting .229. So the plan didn't work.

Why not? It would seem super reasonable if you sacrificed a bit of power, you could get guys to hit .250 .320 .400, the better guys like Vlad to hit .290 .390 .450. Bo to hit .300 .350 .450. Old Springer to hit .250 .320 .420.

Kirkie to hit .280 .380 .420. Varsho to hit .240 .320 .450.

So they probably crunched the numbers, got the egg-heads to run some analysis, assumed that under a higher average, less power hitting philosaphy, they get hit .260 as a team and reach a good run total.

Something about the modern game of baseball made this not happen... even though it sounded pretty reasonable.

I wonder if Ross will say anything worth listening to lmao lmwrdgikrsnglknglkfdngmf

"ultimately it's on the players to perform"

"we will continue to do the work to define the processes and provide the tools and information to everyone in our organization to be the best they can be"

you just know he is going to get 7 softball questions and then maybe the rest will be about Alek Manoah because none of these reporters know what to ask

they won't ask why no hitting coaches have been fired

they won't ask about his accountability for the farm system not developing enough talent

they won't ask about the early career catastrophic declines of multiple hitters

they won't ask he is worried about his job

they MIGHT ask about the lineup decisions lol

they MIGHT ask for injury updates on Joey Votto

Votto on track to be ready for 2025. Unreal for a f***ing DH. Players can have surgery and return sooner to live action than him lol.

the whole thing with Votto is just weird - from him calling Atkins to rolling his angle on a bat

Much of the media works for Rogers or expects/wants to one day. So won't rock the boat.

Atkins should be embarrassed to talk. Shapiro should be there instead announcing that Atkins is gone. With the reno's to the Skydome, he should also be wearing a toupee or at least a shaved head. If Maddingly shaved his weird white fake beard, Shapiro should shave his head... It wouldn't take much.

Schneider batting leadoff today and Springer down to the six hole. It's a miracle.

So in a nutshell, basically we have more time, we expect our players to turn it around, and then softball question after softball question.

Yeah nothing of substance

"we have the talent and the time but we need to turn it around now"

okay bro

I was totally expecting him to grab the mic and proclaim the season was lost in he's the biggest f*** up in the history of MLB GMs. Then stand up, pour gasoline all over himself and light a match.

Hard to believe he just took the diplomatic route and spat out the usual GM rhetoric

RA - "We're seeing really positive signs with the offense"

Reporter - "What are those signs?"

RA - "We're getting into really good counts. We're working starting pitchers better. We have been, over the last month, getting into really good hitter's counts and working starting pitchers hard"

Please get this f***ing guy off my TV

How about just an iota of accountability? We got none.

Well, there was little to none in the offseason, wouldn't see it now in season is all. He was going to dance around everything anyway. :P

seriously? this is painful to watch but I'll try and finish it

Reading this I’m glad I skipped Ned Flanders. Saved myself an aneurysm. He never was going to say anything material at this point in season. For the ownership it’s fire him or don’t at this point.
