Yeah and with Romano and Swanson returning soon we'll have to move out 3 guys over the course of the weekend. Espino is easy enough but after that I'm not sure.

Gausman should be good, he's supposed to start tomorrow and Yariel isn't getting the call until Saturday

 

I think a good plan could be to get Espino an inning or two on Friday if we can and then option him for Y-Rod

You have to think Vogelbach will be one. He really doesn't fill any role on the roster atm (except being liked). Mitch White would make sense as the other. I guess they could option Nate or Cabrera.

Yeah he'd be perfect bc he barely plays but with the newish 13 pitcher max rule it won't be him

Yeah, that'll be Monday. Same with Jano. Not so sure then, unless someone hits the IL, 1 guy's getting optioned and Mitch White might be Designated.

Likely replacing Bowden Francis in the rotation or Mitch White.

I hope it's not Francis. He has shown some promise and has a decent K-BB rate right now. The HR rate is not sustainable and I think he can work through this.

 

Options are probably:

 

- Mayza to IL

- White cut

- Espino cut

- Cabrera to IL or cut

 

Personally, I think it's time to move on from Mitch White. He offers the team nothing at this point.

Well he doesn't actually throw 98, probably a big reason why everyone has given up on him. His stuff doesn't look the same as it did late last year or early in ST.

Even if Bowden Francis doesn't suck he's probably a 2 times through the order/4 IP pitcher anyway, so they can piggyback each other. The stuff and approaches seems different enough to provide a different look?

I think Francis would excel as a long reliever. Let him come in if a starter is hurt or doesn't have it and just do what he does twice through the order. He has good stuff and looks like he belongs in the big leagues. Even in his two starts while he's given up a lot of runs he still hasn't actually looked bad.

Yeah, dump White and put Francis in the long relief role. He’s actually good enough to where if you need an arm in a leverage spot due to lack of other options (ex. 10th inning against the Mariners on Wednesday), then he might actually be a useable option there. Otherwise he can soak up 2-3 innings out of the pen when necessary.

 

Mayza to the IL is going to be done at some point, his velo is down and he’s looked like s*** since ST. Better to do it now than wait for him to blow another game.

Yeah I would like that plan.

 

And the truth is Yariel might be the better pitcher anyway.

 

We can piggyback them for now but ultimately Yariel might settle in as the bulk pitcher or a 5 inning guy. Francis can always be ready to throw a couple of innings on Yariel's days and then he can be available for an inning here or there on the other days of the week.

 

The book isn't quite out on Francis yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see him mow down the Rockies and maybe settle in as a #5 still.

Ok here's the plan folks.

 

Gausman throws 5 innings tonight and when we ass blast the Rockies 10-0 after 5 we pull him and give one inning to each of the following:

 

Mitch White

Paulo Espino

Genesis Cabrera

Tim Mayza

 

Whoever does the best stays and the other three can pack their bags for the arrival of Yariel, Romano and Swanson (good god that's a lot of firepower for the bullpen).

Espino also has an option so they could send either down and keep everybody

 

However, Cabrera and Espino seem somewhat useful for the big team. Cabrera has barely pitched and at least has strikeout ability and LOOGY utility. Espino throws strikes and can chug innings.

 

White is just good at nothing. His stuff just does not work with his limited command profile. I think he's a lost cause!

That 26 and 40 roster spot went to Espino. And yes, Rodriguez is already on the 40.

Personally, I'm thinking the cuts are:

Pearson

Espino

Mayza (IL) or White if not.

 

White would essentially be released, as he'd be waiver pickup for somebody like Cleveland.
