Laika Community Moderator Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Of course Jansen has a bit more value, Toronto would have to be desperate to do a straight up trade
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 I’m starting to get very excited for the Kevin Kiermaier 4 WAR revenge season I'd love to see him give us all a big f*** you and dominate on D and be average at the plate.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 What’s funny? We would probably have to add in a top five prospect plus top 10 prospect to get that done Wtf are you smoking?
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Danny Jansen >> Ian Happ Keep Jansen and Kirk, sign Wacha, Yarbrough and Conforto, Moreno starts in AAA
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 If that's true they shouldn't be targeting Happ. Happ is a mediocre corner OF with one year of control left. Chicago should be adding to him for Jansen. For some odd reason this dude thinks this forum overrates Jansen, and that he suxxxxx. Cubs would definitely have to add on Happ if this were even remotely true. Can you muzzle that moron, connorp please, thanks!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Have the terms come out yet? Odd that it's day-old news and the contract details haven't been revealed. Wondering if they are being extra cautious in revealing the details until he passes the physical. When I read Shi's tweet it's per physical, that's what we're waiting on, simple.
Ron tokama Verified Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Jesus Christ. Let's see. Player 1: 140wRC+, 2.6 WAR over 248 PA last season (5.8 WAR per 550 PA), 4 WAR over 454 PA in the past two seasons (Avg 4.9 WAR per 550 PA). 2 Seasons of club control. 27 years old. Player 2: 120wRC+, 3.5 WAR over 641 PA last season (3 WAR per 550 PA), 4.7 WAR over over 1176 PA in the past two seasons (Avg 2.5 WAR per 550 PA). 1 season of club control. 28 years old. Yet, somehow, you think player 2 is far superior to player 1 in terms of value. Except glass boy Jansen will never get anywhere near that amount of at bats in a season.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 I am using Baseball Reference which has 4.4 WAR for Happ. Regardless. They might do a Jansen for Happ trade. The point of contention is you saying Jansen would get Happ plus. Or that Jansen in the real world is so much more valuable then Happ. Just the fact Happ is a switch hitter and we need a left handed hitting bat is extremely valuable to the Jays. Plus the fact he can play multiple positions both OF and IF. You're a Happ owner in Fantasy, right?
Ron tokama Verified Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 If this org values Jansen so highly that they are seeking a Nootbaar level trade asset Jansen will be the third string catcher on this team until he hits free agency. That’s a fact.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 When I read Shi's tweet it's per physical, that's what we're waiting on, simple. I can’t recall ever waiting on the $ figure because of the physical
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 You're a Happ owner in Fantasy, right? Not anymore, not even in one league. He had a good 2022 season has multiple position versatility and is a switch hitter. Would be happy to have him. Jansen is like Buxton but with less track record. Got to play to be of value.
Ron tokama Verified Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Wait.. you think Nootbaar is not a good player to get back in a trade? Jansen is worth a mediocre bull pen arm or bench player(Stuart Fairchild for example). Nothing more.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Oh great - a new troll...or Dogg has a new account. f***ing wonderful.

Also, Jano's a year younger, don't get where you think he's 27.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 I can’t recall ever waiting on the $ figure because of the physical Not really, it took weeks to hear what the Dodgers officially gave Kershaw.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Jansen is worth a mediocre bull pen arm or bench player(Stuart Fairchild for example). Nothing more. f*** off, lmao.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Wait.. you think Nootbaar is not a good player to get back in a trade? The Cards were never going to move Nootbaar for Jansen, man.
InsideThePark Verified Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Take this for what it is, which is a random twitter account I've never heard of, but it's something and we're a day and a half from the signing being reported

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Tampa couldn't trade Kiermaier at 1/10.5 If we give him 2 years then we made a big mistake. I say he gets 1/8. If the 1/8.5 turns out to be true.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Much better than the rumoured 2-year deal.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 If the 1/8.5 turns out to be true. The Rays couldn't move Kiermaier at 1/13 in 10 days, I thought. Also that guy's a nobody, c'mon guys.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Much better than the rumoured 2-year deal. There's no multiple year rumoured? That was Hurl f***ing around, bro.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 The Rays couldn't move Kiermaier at 1/13 in 10 days, I thought. Also that guy's a nobody, c'mon guys. Market inflated since then though Like Cody Bellinger ended up getting basically what his arb projection was

That doesn't include the 2.5 million buyout. If a team valued Kiermaier at 1/10.5 then the Rays would have traded him for a bag of balls.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 There's no multiple year rumoured? That was Hurl f***ing around, bro. Oh was the 2 year 24 million a troll lol. Well he definitely got me. But in fairness a weird thing to troll about. It didn’t seem that far fetched but also kinda gross. What put it over the top is the Dodgers making a late push. In that scenario the second year made sense.

Hurl does NOT play cribbage with Ross.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 I'd be surprised if it were a straight one year deal given that the Dodgers were apparently interested as well. Maybe the Jays promised more playing time, or he saw a path to more playing time in Toronto. Ideally for the Jays it would be one year + a team option with a buyout, because as fringey as Kiermaier is, the Jays kind of need outfielders beyond 2023 as well. Either way, as credible as "Damon" is, I'll wait for more of an official announcement.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 For future reference.... Hurl does NOT play cribbage with Ross. And the cameras in KK's house were without audio. Purely for visual pleasure
