Regardless. They might do a Jansen for Happ trade. The point of contention is you saying Jansen would get Happ plus. Or that Jansen in the real world is so much more valuable then Happ.

 

Just the fact Happ is a switch hitter and we need a left handed hitting bat is extremely valuable to the Jays. Plus the fact he can play multiple positions both OF and IF.

I'd be surprised if it were a straight one year deal given that the Dodgers were apparently interested as well. Maybe the Jays promised more playing time, or he saw a path to more playing time in Toronto. Ideally for the Jays it would be one year + a team option with a buyout, because as fringey as Kiermaier is, the Jays kind of need outfielders beyond 2023 as well.

 

Either way, as credible as "Damon" is, I'll wait for more of an official announcement.
