I don't remember seeing any? Happy to chance my opinion and move him out of the danger zone. He seems interesting to me but also very much an in between OF prospect.

I believe it was reported by Kaitlyn McGrath at The Athletic. I'll see if I can find it later. I might be overstating it.

Why sign Michael Brantley when you already have Josh Palacios?

On first glance they are pretty close in raw minor league numbers. Closer then I thought they would be.

At second glance Palacios is a year older at each level, strikes out 3 times as much + probably for every 20 guys that hit like Brantley in the minors only 1 becomes Brantley.

interesting

If the GM is Mike Chernoff, he can have them both for Shane Bieber

We need 40 man spots anyway so dumping Reese for a low level lotto ticket sounds good to me. Surely someone could use him. If I was the GM of a s*** team I'd probably be calling the Jays about him and Fisher.

I was reading on https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ how Gardner and the Yankees have had no talks re: 2021. If we end up trading Grichuk or Hernandez as part of a package for starting pitcher, what if we signed Gardner to a 1-year? He bats left, is typically a Jays killer, forecasted for > 1.2 WAR, would want to make the Yankees pay, etc and he is still a stolen base threat. I would like him as the 4th OF more than Fisher, although Gardner is probably limited to LF and CF in a pinch. Just throwing it out there.

Gardener would be just fine for a year. I just don't think they're trading one of those guys for a starter, at least not before Spring Training.

The Toronto Blue Jays have shown recent interest in free-agent pitcher Taijuan Walker, according to sources with direct knowledge.

The Blue Jays have maintained a dialogue with Walker for most of the offseason, but the two sides have not lined up on the length of a contract. A deal is not believed to be close, though with the team needing another starting pitcher, they have made it clear that they would like to bring him back if the price is right.

Free-agent left-handed pitcher James Paxton is also on the Blue Jays’ radar, sources said, but Andy Martino of SNY reports that he is seeking more than $11 million annually. It is not known how much room the Blue Jays have to spend, but it is hard to see them spending significant money on a pitcher who posted a 6.64 ERA in 20.1 innings last season while averaging only 92.1 mph with his fastball — a pitch that averaged 95.5 mph in 2019.

The Blue Jays were also in on free-agent infielder Marwin Gonzalez, who agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with the Red Sox. He would have offered strong depth and a much-needed left-handed off the bench behind Marcus Semien, Bo Bichette and Cavan Biggio. Gonzalez also drew interest from the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies, among others.

On Thursday, the Blue Jays signed reliever David Phelps to a one-year deal. With teams increasingly concerned about their pitching depth as the league ramps back up from 60 to 162 games, it would hardly be surprising to see the Blue Jays add another arm or two.

FEB 13: Having gone unclaimed, the Blue Jays released Yamaguchi, per Scott Mitchell of TSN Sports (via Twitter). They will nevertheless remain on the hook for the $3.175MM owed to Yamaguchi this season.

Law acts like Kirk has literally nothing left to develop.

Kirk doesn't speak English, needs to learn how to handle a pitching staff, and probably needs diet off 20 pounds of pure fat just to have a viable long term career.

Law either thinks that Kirk will never lose weight, or that he can do all this while continuing to perform well at the major league level.

Kirk has been working. i have no clue how well kirk speaks English or what his game calling abilities are. You likely don't either. The most important ability is the ability to hit. Kirk can hit and help contribute.

If you wait for Kirk to be some skinny Englishman and a leader of pitching men then Kirk will rot in Buffalo until he dies of a heart attack at 31. Just let the fatty play right now and enjoy the magical show

He looks pretty good there. Vlad Jr. is looking pretty good here too:

I think it's absolutely KEY that once spring training starts that we keep these two as far away from each other as possible. Abuela makes one round of comfort food for those two fatties and it's game over. All the gains they made this offseason are gone.

I'm pumped to see Kirk and Vlad.

Can we go get a starting pitcher before camp opens.

Price, Walker or Odorizzi in order of preference for me.

Yaa... just one damn pitcher to help take the pressure off Ryu and we have ourselves a dream offseason.

Most here know this I'm sure, but a reminder:

Robbie Ray from 2017-2019

33-15 W/L

3.72 ERA

618 K's in 460 IP

12.1 K/9

4.4 BB/9

1.4 HR/9

Then whatever the f*** he tried to do to his delivery in 2020.

Hopefully they get him back to what he was before, then we can flush 2020 down the toilet and voila the Jays have a legit #2.

Guy is only 28, I'm sure they can get him back to form.

I know it's hard to picture though, because he was so s***** last year. But supposedly there is a legit, identifiable and fixable reason for the shittyness.

Fingers crossed.

Also, Pearson has the stuff to be an ace. We all know that.

The Jays top 3 SP's have a chance to be amazing. If that happens all they need is a couple more guys to just be average (Matz, Roark, Stripling, etc)
