In better news: Bo 3-4 with a BB and 3 steals

Jansen - 1/3, HR

Gurriel Jr. - 2/3 - 4 RBI

SRF - 7IP, 1ER, 3H, 0 BB, 9 SO

SRF with 9Ks and no walks in 7 innings giving up 3 hits and 1 run.

He's been really good at triple a - he had a seemingly flukey start his first time out, 8 runs or something in like an inning, but since then has been lights out.

Basically, Danny Jansen isn't the greatest game caller. Reese McGuire is though.

Lol at this being the reason on why SRF struggled in his first AAA start.

Gives an idea of how dominant he can be when his command is on.

He was his main catcher throughout most of his AA tenure last season as well. He's self-admitted that he's still got a lot to learn when it comes to calling games.

Regardless of where you stand on the fluke vs fat argument, I think we should all hope that the Jays medical and dietary personnel are monitoring Vlad's diet and exercise while he is sedentary.

So then the two should sit together prior to each game and discuss a game plan. If not, SRF should just shake off what he doesn't want to throw until Jansen gets it. Hopefully this isn't some mental "personal catcher" ********.

Relevant... also a good read, recommended.

GAME CALLING

Bisons pitching coach Bob Stanley sets a plan for Jansen and the team’s pitchers before every series. It’s a blueprint on how they should attack hitters and lately, Stanley hasn’t had to take charge.

“Overall, he’s done it himself,” Stanley says. “He’s really learned a lot in terms of calling games. He’ll ask questions once in a while, but … He’s getting better and better.”

Improving on that has been a goal for Jansen since spring training. He chatted often with Martin and Maile during camp and even had the chance to scrutinize video with them. One area of particular focus has been helping the Buffalo staff make stronger set-up pitches.

“It’s come a long way over the years,” Jansen says of his game calling. “There’s always room for improvement. The game always changes, so you have to be changing as well. But it feels pretty good right now.”

Left-hander Ryan Borucki, who has known Jansen since 2014, dating back to their days in rookie ball, takes it one step further.

“Really good. He’s been progressing. I’ve seen him since Bluefield when we both didn’t really know what we were doing,” Borucki says. “Now, he really calls a big-league game.”

Additionally, the Blue Jays feel Jansen has adapted well to the challenge of working with older pitchers. Veterans with MLB experience permeate triple-A rosters, while in the lower levels, catchers essentially work with players their own age.

“Now, he’s here with guys five, six, seven years older than him sometimes,” Cherington says. “That’s a new challenge and he’s doing really, really well with it. He’s focused on it. He’s such a genuine person and works so hard and cares. Guys pretty quickly see that from him and see that he’s putting the pitcher first and their game first and people respond to that.

“That’s just something new that he’s experiencing for the first time in triple-A and doing well with.”

Gore 16th despite not really pitching this year. Cool!

Santana 82nd seems pretty fair. Like personally i would have him #2 after Gore but ehh

Brusdar Graterol not ranked, dumb list.

Ranking him #9 is BAD. He could easily be as high as #1 but definitely belongs in the Top 5.

He's 19 years old and has a wRC+ of 163 in the majors, with as many walks as strikeouts. Putting someone like Victor Robles or even Bo Bichette ahead of him is insane. There's even a pitcher ahead of him lol.

Steamer has him projected to hit wRC+ of 122 rest of season. That is insane. Bo Bichette his hitting 125 wRC+ in AA and he's a year older. I have no idea how you could rank Soto lower than Bichette given all that.

Bear in mind when Fangraphs does it's rankings they always say all 60 FV guys are about the same rank, so technically all their 60 FV guys tied for 6th.

But I think the main point here is why isnt a 65 or higher, seems kinda silly to me too given he's already having success in the majors while guys older or of equal age haven't made it yet.

List is s***. So many illogical rankings because Fangraphs is too scared to move guys aggressively after their initial rankings. Peter Alonso is all bat, fine. But how is he still ranked below a guy like Jahmai Jones who is regressing in A+ and also has defensive questions. It's because Jones was originally ranked 69 and they're scared to move him.

Yadier Alvarez stalled like 2 years ago and is still ahead of a lot of good SP prospects.

Don't even get me started on how a guy like Garrett Hampson can't make the list. 70 speed, great defence and versatility. More walks than Ks. Not even blinking going from A+ last year to AAA this year. Right on the doorsteps of a call up. Because they never ranked him in the past.

Dylan Cease, not ranked. lol
