Bryce walks and they just dip into the farm and pull out f***ing Soto and Robles, nbd

That's called drafting, scouting, and development. Three things that give me wood.

I like how he's a Top 10 prospect in their ranking yet everyone is outraged that Fangraphs thinks he's a bum.

He's objectively a top 3 prospect in all of baseball. You could easily argue his merit for being above either or both of Acuña and Vlad Jr. To put him behind the likes of Bichette and Nick Senzel is egregious.

We're talking about a likely 65/70 FV guy.

18 of the top 20 prospects of July 2 2018 tested positive for banned substances in tests conducted by MLB. The word agreements will fall and many of them will re-sign for less money. History in a few minutes in the stellar broadcast of @ SIN24Horas https://t.co/63WiDOZN5B

Good. This corrupt system has to stop.

It won't stop because there's so much incentive for these players to get large bonuses and for their trainers. Now that there are spending caps there is less money to go around.

From BP today:
Hit

60

It’s unorthodox. Big wrap behind back shoulder with hitch, near armbar, bat speed and control are so good it won’t really matter. Bat speed and hand-eye allows him to really let it get deep, but he goes through jags where he tries to pull everything. Can get exploited when he gets aggressive (which is often at present). Tracks well, knows zone, will spit on a close FB. Plus-plus bat speed, plus approach, plus hit.

Power

60

Plus power line to line, ball jumps, could add more raw if he fills out. Should get to most of it.

Baserunning/Speed

50

4.3 dig, suspect there is more in the tank at present, but likely average at maturity.

Glove

45

Solid fielder, good hands and instincts, smooth around the bag, range is a little light and puts pressure on his arm. Everything just feels a half-grade short for the 6, grinds to be fringy, won’t kill you there. Makes most of the plays. Above-average to plus projection at second.

Arm

55

Above-average arm strength, doesn’t have that clothesline carry, can’t really let it loose deep in the 5.5 hole, weird mechanics, best throws come out sidearm, will flash 6, would be fine at second.

Overall

6/6 offensive profile, can get a little out of control when he muscles up, but better plate coverage than you’d think. Good enough defender in the middle infield, interested to see how the frame matures. One of the 20 best prospects in baseball.

If there’s no question about the bat, Would you rather a slight below average SS or a plus second basemen?

Let him play SS until someone better comes along to bump him off to second. We have a lot of SS in the system but he's the closest to the majors and Tulo shouldn't be blocking him.

Those are pretty much the same player.

I can't stand him. He's from TO and had good era and w-l so he was getting love from a lot of casual fans. I hate to root against anyone but I'm not sad that he's blowing up.

The question is what do you do if you put Bo at SS next year and he's average there and then Smith comes up a year later and is the better defensive SS.

Kind of what happened with Correa and Bregman.

Move him to 2B. Shouldn't be too difficult to get him to buy into the logic.

Can we trade those for our current problems?

If Smith and Bichette became half of what those 2 are we should be dancing in the streets.

Wasn't comparing their talents just the situation of where you already have one of your top prospects having success at SS and a better defender comes along afterwards.

If both bats are legit, it will work itself out for sure. I long for that problem.

Both Alford and Tellez were removed from today’s game after one AB. I doubt they are getting called up. Simultaneous injuries?

WTF? You're rooting for someone that you don't even know to fail? I guess because he's from Toronto and had a good ERA and W-L record?

Some of you guys here are f***ing retarded.

I root against casual fans being happy for stupid reasons. If they're happy for a good reason... yay!

Too bad his k rate is like 4.5%. I can't see how he can be successful relying that much on good BABIP groundball luck.

Rochester gets to Bisons starter Murphy Smith early. Anthony Alford left the game with back tightness and Rowdy Tellez left after not running out a pop fly.

This happened with Russ Adams and Aaron Hill. Adams came first, was a terrible short stop, but Hill was moved to second to accommodate him. By the time they decided to move Adams, it was to late to move Hill, and they went with John McDonald at short.

Despite his reputation McDonald was below replacement for the most part https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=395&position=SS

Maybe in this day and age with shifts and creative defensive alignments (Russel Martin playing everywhere), they don't have to be married to certain guys at certain positions. Perhaps it doesn't even matter as much which guys you define at what position, you can simply put your best defender at the most important place in the shift. Maybe all these infielders coming up, are just infielders. If Smith is the best infielder, he just plays as deep as he can, at the spot where the data says he's needed most (ie short stop, short right field, up the middle, where-ever)
