He's got 3.0 WAR on the season, which would be 2nd best on the Jays.

Pay for future performance broski. He has some ugly periphs and his defense isn't this good.

1.5 RoS. Is he worth paying a prospect premium for over, say, Will Venable?

I was just making a point that he's had a great season so far (in light of the fact many believe he's overrated - me included). Venable has 0.4 RoS. Is a 1.1 WAR upgrade over 2 months a lot?

Obviously everything would depend on what that upgrade costs.

Oh my bad, his 1.5 RoS would be the 3rd best RoS on the Jays....f***.

The Jays might even have him projected as more valuable than that. Maybe they like his defense better now, or maybe they don't, and it would be nicer if they could add a LHB, but Cespedes + Price would make all of us pretty excited regardless of the cost.

Not me, terrible asset management. Unless there is no next year, you have to plan for it.

C'mon Atothe - the doomsday predictors will be right one of these days! keep the faith.

I think to some fans, one long playoff run and/or a World Series Championship is all worth it, even if it sets the franchise back 5 years. I'm not one of those fans, but you certainly can tell they exist (Ken Reid is one of them - he's a maroon).

There's no way the Dodgers move Puig for Hamels.

Ignore the injuries and the numbers for a sec and remember just how much the clubhouse hates Puig. Now that the speculation is out there I wouldn't be surprised if Greinke goes to Friedman and demands that Puig get traded.

I doubt they would straight up, but a couple reports have Puig causing some clubhouse issues. I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade involving Puig and Hamels. Maybe something like Puig for Hamels, Papelbon, and Gilies, with the Phillies paying Papelbon's salary next season?

If the Dodgers really wanted to move Puig for pitching they could probably do a 1-1 for Syndergaard, Harvey or deGrom. Puig is worth waaay more than the ability to take on Hamels contract, even if you include Pap for free and Giles.

Why would the Dodgers need Paplebon and Giles..? Bad fit for a trade, all around.

Harvey-Puig is kinda interesting.

Their pen currently consists of Baez, Howell, Jansen, Liberator, Nicasio, Peralta, and Tsao. I'd have to think replacing Peralta and someone with two very high end relief arms (which would give them a pen that could probably rival SD) would be pretty tempting for them.

They have the fifth best xFIP and are first in SIERA, I think their pen is just fine.

They've also used 18 different relievers this year (the same number we have incidentally), and their 2nd best reliever in xFIP (who's thrown more than 7 innings) just got demoted for giving up 6 runs in his last couple outings. I think it's safe to say they aren't comfortable with their relief. Also, Jansen kind of skews things a little, with his godly 1.12 xFIP.

High-leverage relievers take opportunities away from each other providing a diminishing returns effect. Beyond Jansen, Liberatore, Nicasio, Yimi, Baez, blah blah blah they REALLY don't need two more relievers.

Yimi got demoted (which is odd given his 2.85 xFIP and a team that's saber friendly), Liberatore has given up 10 runs in his last 12 innings, and is starting to have command issues, Nicasio has his own command issues, and it's questionable if he's actually any good. Howell is okay, but very lucky so far this year. Peralta has been a disaster. IMO if the Phillies are interested in Hamels, and Puig is going the other way, then those two guys make the most sense to be included. The Phillies aren't going to want to part with extra prospects when dealing Hamels.

You mention saber friendly then mention 10 runs in 12 innings, lol. Stretch.

SIERA/SwStr

Liberatore 3.23/9.6

Nicasio 3.45/10.6

Howell 3.31/9.6

Jansen god

Yimi depth
