Catcher hasn't had as much premium talent as other positions. Probably has to be Bench or Piazza though. Maybe in a decade and change it'll be Posey

Interesting part, Gray has better splits away than home.

Numbers wise Gray and Stroman are very similar, Gray xFIP in away games is 2.99 (2015) and Stroman xFIP in home games is 2.91 (2014).

Those guys are old as hell. Hamilton will be able to run wild for a while. Also those weak wRC+ only bring down his arb costs which makes him even more valuable.

 

This team has had Rajai, Gose and Bonafacio recently. All were shipped out and none were used particularly effectively while they were here - a bench player that can be used as much as possible for pinch running late in the game and defense in the case of Gose. I'd rather focus my efforts on improving the pitching.

Instead of throwing away potential assets and wasting all of the remaining cap space on junk and deadweight like Parra and Lohse, just to get a struggling Cotts, maybe they should trade for a real person.

Cotts is a loogy which this pen desperately needs.

 

You could probably find the equivalent within the system by calling up Norris for the pen and Pompay for LF but for what it would take to get Cotts and Parra...why not.

 

Who cares what hand he bats with if he's a much better bat? And Parra has been terrible on defense this year. Both guys suck and would not be ideal options for a contending ball club, which is why they should probably bench Colabello and call up Pompey.

 

You say "for what it would cost to get Cotts and Parra" as if taking on Lohse's salary is nothing. If it's true that the Jays have between 5-7M available payroll space, Lohse would waste the entirety of that, and prevent them from acquiring another starter.

Parras been bad on defence this year but decent for his career and no ones as bad as Bello. Cotts is a perfect fit for the pen and won't cost anything to acquire.

 

Selective reading? Your original proposal was to trade for Parra and Cotts, and to take on Lohse's salary as part of the deal. You edited the second part out half an hour after you made your post.

I think it's a bit to much with all the salary that we'd have to take on. I am also not on the Pompey bandwagon but love Robson, so i wouldn't be able to do it.

How are you comparing these guys to Hamilton? Rajai is a platooner with terrible defense. Gose is solid on d but can't hit and has a pretty bad baseball IQ. Boni is a replacement player. Hamilton is probably the 2nd best CF defender behind Kiermeyer and there is more offense to come.
