ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 No you wont. Its our nature, we are stuck with this team. I will, but time will tell of course.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Hope that Runs Allowed becomes attractive to some team and they can get something for him. Maybe sell Buehrle? Get the equivalent of a comp pick if possible. Anyway, I hope Norris and Pompey are called up soon, instead of traded.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 No you wont. Its our nature, we are stuck with this team. Yep, you're right. I tried, in vain, to cheer for the Orioles a couple years ago when I was getting really depressed, and I just can't. Loving the Blue Jays is like being in an abusive relationship you can't quit. I think anyone here pretty much feels the same way.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 I'll be done with this team for a while if they make another dumb one. It certainly wouldn't be a surprise since they were in a much better position last year and did nothing so it figures they'll do something stupid this year. I'm too much of a sucker to give up on this team, but yes, if AA trades any prospect of significance to make an unlikely run this season, then f*** him and the organization. Until November when the off-season starts. Then I'll be reeled back in. As always.
Smokey Verified Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 with jays offense don't need Hamels..... Haren would do oh i know Haren is not a #1 pitcher any longer. he'll give the same number of wins for the best offense in baseball that a Hamels will for an average offence. what i am really questioning is do the jays need to trade 3 top prospects for an ace..... what difference does it make if they win 8-1 or 8-4, a win is a win #PavementLogic
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 #PavementLogic I don't think he's serious. Admits Hamels is a better pitcher than Haren, but somehow they would equally contribute to the Jays.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 I'd choose the Dodgers tbh. Yeah, but who wants to vote for the ridiculous spenders? What the Nats and Cards are doing with their budget is outstanding. I'd also include the Pirates and Astros. TB can suck a dick

I'd also include the Pirates and Astros. TB can suck a dick Well the Nats' budget is about to spike. The Cards are so overdone. The Astros' tanking was bad for baseball and the Pirates are probably cursed. You sound like you want to be an Indians fan. I think that's a good fit for you.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 I remember rooting for the Manny Ramirez led dodgers back in 08-09. Fun times.

Truthfully I believe the organization has come on leaps and bounds in the last 5 years in terms of drafting and developing prospects and raising the payroll to a competitive level. What has hurt us continually since the arrival of AA/Beeston has been a spate of truly awful trades and I'm not just talking about the Marlins and Mets. Edited July 11, 2015 by Praxis

What has hurt us continually since the arrival of AA/Beeston has been a spate of truly awful trades and I'm not just talking about the Marlins and Mets. To be fair, AA has also made some amazing trades. Gonzalez for Escobar, spare parts for Rasmus, Wells and his monster contract for Napoli, Donaldson trade, etc.

Gonzalez for Escobar, spare parts for Rasmus, Wells and his monster contract for Napoli, Donaldson trade, etc. Morrow and Lawrie trades were good too. In fact, I'd like to see him get back to those types of deals to round out the roster. We also thought the Saunders trade was a really good one and some of us stand by this opinion. It's also to AA's credit that the team's farm system produced players that other teams coveted in trades. Too bad he targeted the players he targeted, but it's a good thing to have a farm system good enough to allow you to trade for established talent. Gotta choose the right players to trade your young talent for though.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 What could Buehrle + some $alary relief net Jays in return?
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 What could Bautista and Edwin net? Well, more, but I doubt this franchise would trade either of them and raise the white flag for next year. It's also doubtful that they'd admit defeat and trade Buehrle, but I wonder if he could net the team something close to what they got for Shaun Marcum.
Smokey Verified Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 In fact, I'd like to see him get back to those types of deals to round out the roster. That's wishful thinking. As far as I'm concerned, he's never rounded out any of his rosters and most of his success has come from trades that were more focused on upgrading assets rather than addressing a specific need. The Travis trade is the only one that comes to mind in which he actually addressed a need and even that came at the expense of weakening the OF depth. Now being able to make a solid mid season move when he's in competition with so many other teams will be a tall order for a guy who has a history of sitting on the sidelines in similar circumstances in the past.

I thought the Saunders trade was pretty good as it addressed LF for 2 years at a good price. And yes, it's wishful thinking, but at this point, I'd rather stand pat than let him overpay for pitching which he has done in the past.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 AA has been talking about a guy with control long term, i wonder if he has interest in Gio Gonzalez? Nats could realistically go with a rotation of Scherzer, Zimm, Fister, Ross, Roark until Strasburg is back. They'd probably be looking for Pompey + package or Norris.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Mark Buerleh could bring back a serious asset with Contending teams looking for pitching down the stretch.

SD has surplus pitching, and i think they would want big league ready assets.. pompey can slide in center.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 I'd like to hold on to Buehrle beyond 2015, but old man deserves way better than this organization. Either qualify him and get a pick, or trade him for a good prospect and let the man pitch on a contender like he deserves to.
