  1. MikeM - repeat this point until the chickens come home to roost. It's spot on.
  2. Not buying this argument. As I said in another thread, if the Jays FO cannot grasp the extremely simple concept that other teams like the Twins were hardly likely to put in their best offer for Stroman a full 72 hours before the deadline, then God help us.
  3. So just to be clear on Sunday - three days before the deadline - Atkins "called the bluff" of the Twins rather than waiting until closer to the actual cut off time. He then got utterly hosed by the Mets according to just about everyone within MLB and this somehow makes it OK? When are some on this forum going to face reality: Atkins had a poor to atrocious trade deadline. Period. All this argument proves is the utter incompetence of a front office who panicked rather than realizing that Minnesota (or any other team for that matter) were hardly likely to put up their best offer 72 hours before the deadline.
  4. If these are the only pieces in the trade, this is utterly abominable. I've kept quiet for a long time about the Jays rebuilding process as I think in general it's going pretty well, but these last few days have been extremely disappointing. Further, watching people on this board defend the indefensible against all reason, common sense and the vast majority of the experts within major league baseball itself has been desperately depressing.
  5. So....anyone on here who talks about the Raptors should shut up? NB I don't like the Raptors or basketball in general. Not my thing.
  6. I am trying, genuinely trying, to stay positive and I understand completely what Shapiro and Atkins are trying to do, but you have to give the fans some reason to watch the team. At the moment they are practically fielding a AAA lineup and an underperforming one at that.
  7. I went to the link provided on Fangraphs concerning the trade deadline day acquisitions and then matched the FV to the projected WAR using these tables also from fangraphs: https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/scouting-explained-the-20-80-scouting-scale/ Am I wrong? Am I mixing up something?
  8. So to summarize our 'haul': Espinal - Named as Fringe Prospect in May by Fangraphs, currently sits at 0.0 WAR Wall - Platoon/Util / 1.5 WAR Spanberger - Bench / 1.0 WAR PTBNL/Cash Considerations - ?? Drury - Platoon/Util / 1.5 WAR McKinney - Bench / 1.0 WAR Giles - 0.7 WAR Paulino - Emergency Call-Up / 0.0 WAR Perez - Low Setup / 1.5 WAR Waguespack - Emergency Call-Up / 0.0 WAR Copping - Emergency Call-Up / 0.0 WAR I stand by my last post.
  9. The 'fact' that someone posted this and it was liked is also one of the reasons I quit this board for a long time. Ignoratio elenchi.
  10. He sucked so badly he won a Heisman Trophy, 2 BCS National Championships and led the 1-4 Broncos to the second round of the playoffs. The NFL hated him because he was too out front with his faith and they were more interested in promoting Michael Sam to an utterly undeserved draft pick. I stopped watching the NFL forever not long afterwards.
  11. I'm afraid his ego (however justified) and subsequent salary demands may have scuppered any chance of his remaining here.
  12. I'm not going to complain about this season. I wasn't convinced we would even get as far as the ALCS, which in an odd way makes losing to a depleted Indians lineup kind of suck, but still. After 20 years of utter futility I'll take these last two seasons in a heartbeat. Looking forward I'm not particularly relishing the prospect of Billy Butler as our next DH, but I'll take Josh Reddick as our new RF please. Also, Brandon Moss might be a nice pick up in LF.
  13. Seriously Gibbons. Sit. The. f***. Down.
