Halladay does not walk 3 and strike out 5 over 7

Halladay is a cyborg and is insulted by that statement

yes the 20 inning sample used to justify the other side of the arguement(for a guy who wasn't given the proper time to stetch out and hasn't started for 6 years) showed so much more patience.

By Halladay'esque I mean it was efficient. For most of his career, Halladay pitched to (weak) contact. That's what McGowan did today.

That's not what Halladay did. That's insulting. Halladay was FIPy. Limited walks.

True dat. But the similarities in using velocity and movement to induce weak contact are there. Give McGowan a bit more time to get comfortable and the walks will go down.

Depends on which. xFIP is Hutch, xxFIP is Dickey.

******** stat then, or more time needed to stabilize.

Lies, damn lies, and statistics.

If you think the pitcher has complete control over what gets hit, just think about this:

Imagine a scenario where the pitcher was purposefully trying to get the batter to hit a home run. The batter is one of the top 20 HR hitters in the world. The batter knows exactly what is coming. How often does he hit it out?

Oh wait, that's the HR Derby. The answer is around 37% of the swings go for a HR. Now in a game, how often are "meatballs" swung at? Say 70% max. The batter also doesn't know what's coming and the pitch is never a batting practice pitch.

Good analogy.
