Knights4Cup Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 What have Zaun and Hayhurst done wrong in this situation? I'm actually a fan of Hayhurst. I think he is the most objective out of all of the people who cover the team. Zaun, well he is objective, but I fail to see how him being a part of the panel or broadcast crew makes people want to listen to him. He was a cheater during his playing days and anything that he says could be just refuted by saying, "well Zaun at least we didn't use PED's when we played." That alone should make anything he says not credible, thus why I think he is a clown. Only Rogers would hire a former player for broadcasting/analyzing who had to cheat just to be below average.

He's a clown because he dresses like one on national TV and will do anything for attention.

Hayhurst comes off as extremely arrogant. Reminds me of people on this site. Only difference is that he turned pro
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I don't like JPA but he has played through a lot of injuries. Zaun was on roids and I'm happy MLB players don't respect him, he's a hot-headed moron who cheated for his career. I'm actually a fan of Hayhurst. Okay... Personally, I feel that 90% of all players during the "Steroid era" and about 75% of players now use some form of PED. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if any member of the team (except Kawasaki) tested positive today. We have a guy who was CAUGHT doing PEDs on the team right now. Zaun's entire steroid allegations stems from a single receipt with his name on it in the Mitchell Report. That's IT. He never tested positive, there's no huge paper trail, there's no eye witness testimony for him. A single receipt with his name on it. Melky tested positive, Zaun once used a pen. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Zaun was a juicer (see my "I feel that 90% of all players..." comment above) but because he was an afterthought designed to pad the numbers of a congressional witch hunt doesn't make him automatically unqualified to complain about JPA being terrible at baseball.

Zaun cheated, it's very well known he was named in the Mitchell Report because he was a cheater. I don't care how many guys were on the cream or the clear or whatever else at the time. Cheating is cheating and when you work hard to get something you lose respect for people who cheated for the same things. Like I said good for JPA, he shouldn't respect Zaun and good for letting the viewers know they shouldn't either. The only reason he is on TV is because he's a moron and is likely to cause drama, TV audiences love stupidity and drama. Edited July 4, 2013 by DuckDuckGose spelling/grammar

I agree with most of this. But how can Zaun even respond to this outburst by JPA without making a complete ass of himself? Hopefully Zaun does say something, this team is hopeless on the field so let's have some fun with this off the field.
Smokey Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 TBH it's all true, good for JP. So just because what he's saying might be true, he has the right to take personal shots at people who are paid to critic his game?? I've listened to most of Zaun's and Hayhurst's criticism of JP and they didn't say anything negative about him personally... in fact, they said some nice things about him and called him very personable and talented, but that his game needs a lot of work. Nothing personal. So, what the f*** are you talking about "good for JP"????

If Zaun can go up there and say 100 asinine things a show why can't JPA call him out? He also didn't really lambaste them that hard, especially on their criticisms of JP who knows he is playing poorly. If you listen to the comments he basically asks them to stop with the negativity and bring some positivity to the broadcast, said he felt bad for the fans because they were negative all the time not because of who they were or their accomplishments.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Arencibia, Zaun and Hayhurst did not act as a professionals, their comments have no class. This is disrespectful to the fans and the front office should take action on the matter. DFA Arencibia, Zaun and Hayhurst
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 None of this has anything to do with him being able to critique JP's playing ability. Stop the strawman argument. You don't even need to have played pro ball to be a good analyst. Athletes make a lot of money, taking criticism is part of the game if you are not playing well. HAHAHA I have an awfully hard time believing you know what a strawman argument is.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Zaun cheated, it's very well known he was named in the Mitchell Report because he was a cheater. If he doesn't respect Zaun, he should piss in Melky's Gatorade bottle every day. The evidence is circumstantial for Zaun (as in, it would not stand up in a court of law to convict him were that a crime) and the evidence is rock solid for Melky. I don't give a f*** who Arencibia respects (and I am no huge fan of Zaun, it's a bit of a right wing toolbag) but he's not wrong in calling out JPA for being craptacular.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 * JP says that with Zaun that nobody has respect for a guy who was using performance enhancing drugs Melky Cabrera says hi JP. lol

Freedom of speech??? Come on man. It's pretty obvious that JP can't handle the criticism and, like a child, is taking personal shots at people when it's not necessary or appropriate. I don't know why you feel the need to spin this into something that it's not.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Ooh... Hayhurst is on the air now... http://tnation.t-nation.com/forum_images/auto/r/350x0/a/0//a056f_ORIG-0653_homer_eating_popcorn_small_c78.jpg

I don't think JPA should have handled it this way but, I'm busting out the popcorn for Jays Central right now.

His freedom of speech isn't being infringed by us using our freedom of speech to call him out on it.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Right now I have an informant in the cludhouse.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 He said and I quote "some guys in the clubhouse, including myself" he spoke for himself and not for the team. JaysRap Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Author Posted July 4, 2013 JUST as they go to JP's audio comments and Dirk is about to do his retort, a co-worker and talks to me for 10 minutes. AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!

Do you actually disagree with something JPA said or are you attacking him because he is JPA? I think it's pretty ignorant to call out baseball analysts for analyzing baseball. Who the people in the clubhouse respect (for reasons that have nothing to do with their analyst abilities) is fairly irrelevant. When did he say that? I've listened to it three times now but JP does mumble so maybe I missed it. It was pretty close to the start of the part where he talked about Zaun/Hayhurst. I'm listening live right now, but I'll listen again and get a time code later if I have time.
