Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I agree with JPA...he should have said it differently, but he had every right to say it.
sachmo55 Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Blue Jays FO probably already sent him a memo to keep it cool lol I'll be dissapointed if this is the case lol
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 LOL, keep dreaming. We are not really in contention so lee won't come here, besides the jays will just get outbid. Dude, I'm joking
96MPHFB----- Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 @ByChrisBlack: Arencibia fact #5: His .267 career OBP ranks 257th out of 258 players with 1,000+ plate appearances since 2010. Somebody needs to make sure Zaun see's this on twitter (I don't have an account).
Rajais Mitten Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Just ban him from using twitter and talking to the media already and tell him to shut up and play this is a f***ing baseball team not a high school stop with the B.S and play. What i really want to see though is him just being moved he really can't play here if he is gonna be this mentally weak plus he is s*** so just move him.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 J.P. shouldn't be talking any kind of s*** when he's performed as poorly as he has. Case closed. Oh wait, he has 15 HR this year and every other stat is irrelevant #top10catcher JP has 143K followers, Zaun only has 39K followers. Case closed #top10catcher
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Some random funny Twitter reactions: @blairbeveridge: I met Zaun on the street once. He was a prick. PED User and bad broadcaster. #strike3 Dirk who? @jparencibia9 #TeamArencibia @simonkinglaw: If Gregg Zaun was a below average major leaguer, what the hell is JPA? #BlueJays @LiveFromTO: Zaun and Hayhurst > JP Arencibia. Not even as baseball players, just as human beings. @sajansz: @timandsid zaun mostly and dirk say things for reactions and are extremely polarized, therefore the deserve being called out #itgoesbothways @markdsheldon: RT @dustinparkes if you're a catcher getting drafted in 2013, you pray to sweet Jesus that you have the career that Gregg Zaun did. @adiction2sports: JP Arencibia is playing like crap this year. Instead of planning how to insult Zaun and Hayhurst, he should be planning how to get better.

Ehh Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 JP is such a f***ing tool...zuan was twice the catcher he'll ever be. And Hayhurst is by far our best analyst...
Ehh Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Yup, and Rogers is going to love the publicity. The clubhouse, not so much. When is Zaun going to be on the radio next?
Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 slg? I bet if everyone in baseball gave up taking walks and only swung for the fences, slugging would go up and JPA would be below average in that regard as well. #JPASUCKSSHITBALLS
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 He has the right to freedom of speech. If Zaun can go up there and say 100 asinine things a show why can't JPA call him out? He also didn't really lambaste them that hard, especially on their criticisms of JP who knows he is playing poorly. If you listen to the comments he basically asks them to stop with the negativity and bring some positivity to the broadcast, said he felt bad for the fans because they were negative all the time not because of who they were or their accomplishments. No offense, but you sound like an idiot.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I don't really have a big issue with what JPA said about Heyhurst or Dirk's original criticisms and response. I think both were fair and honest. I DO have an issue with JPA speaking for the team and wonder if it will cause bad blood in the clubhouse regarding Melky. What I DO like about this situation is that JPA is clearly frustrated with how he and the team are playing. Hopefully he will use it constructively (aside from this interview) and improve his game. Sometimes you have to hit bottom before you can move forward, and hopefully this is his bottom.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 His power is a major league tool, but is only one. The overall package belongs in AAA. I think your avatar pretty much describes this whole situation lol
JugglingPitches Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Zaun could come out of retirement and hit and catch better than JP. Not even joking.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Look, fatcow you are young and don't get it but this is the jist of it. If Vernon Wells walked out on the field with you are my n***** on his cheek how do you think the fan base would react? Sure, it's common slang and people say it all the time, it is still completely unacceptable from a professional. How do you think my boss would feel if I walked around in our company uniform using slang that people find offensive? JP stood up for himself and he is taking the heat for it but he didn't say anything offensive to the fans or embarrassing to the team. Your criticism basically comes down to I like Yunel so what he did was ok but, I dislike JP so what he did was far worse. Jesus Christ, that Escobar thing was blown up way out of proportion. I usually don't consider you to be an idiot but you're saying some pretty dumb s***.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Why is this team full of unlikable dickheads? f*** me, even the good players are easy to hate. Bautista is a huge *******.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 His power is a major league tool, but is only one. The overall package belongs in AAA. .205 ISO is great but.............77 wRC+ Balls in play .260 BABIP Not balls in play 31.2% K 3.1 % walk

BabbaGanoush Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Jesus, i just listened to the interview. It sounded like JP was close to crying. The guy is soooo upset about this.

This is part of why he's so rage inducing!
sachmo55 Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Yep. JPA has this idea that catchers aren't expected to produce on offense and that his power makes up for his lack of OBP skills. He clearly doesn't care about taking walks and getting on base, he's said as much numerous times. He's lashing out at Zaun/Hayhurst because he thinks he's doing a good job. He's a run producer. Run producers don't walk, that just clogs up the bases. We don't know what we're talking about. #Top10Catcher

He talked about how hard the game was and things like that. He wouldn't have said that if he thought he was playing great. He knows he's playing poorly.
Tuco Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 At the end of the day this is on AA and upper management. This type of laughable behaviour has been going on way too long and the Jays have basically created a situation where certain players can say and do whatever they like without any consequences. Inmates running the asylum.
Tuco Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 He talked about how hard the game was and things like that. He wouldn't have said that if he thought he was playing great. He knows he's playing poorly. Who even says something like that? EVERY PROFESSIONAL SPORT IS HARD.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 What information are we getting from Zaun and Dirk anyway? He says its a shame that we "get our information" from them. I'm pretty sure we don't have to listen to Zaun or Dirk to know that he's a s***** catcher. Every time Zaun says he's a bad catcher, he gets one less groupie in his private booth at da club!
8D Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Hopefully he has a lot more time for this now: I'm guessing he's not playing tonight and knows it. Hahahaha. Is that the ballpark in east york? lol Nice to see him out there though spending time with the youth.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 How can you not cut the cord on this guy after practically throwing the entire team under the bus and even calling out Melky like that? Let it be over and done with already. Release the clown.
