ace3113 Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 A transcript of the interview via DJF: http://blogs.thescore.com/djf/2013/07/04/arencibia-calls-out-zaun-for-peds-and-hayhurst/ I think it’s very unfortunate that the fans have to hear those guys talk as much as they do, because, I know, speaking for myself and for the team, that there’s not one person in our clubhouse that respects those guys. Because they’re informing the fans the wrong way, and it’s not right. And I think, one) not a lot of us, including myself, respect a person that used performance enhancing drugs and, you know, was able to stick around as a below average player in the Major Leagues. And those who do it without that– I know I’ve worked my entire career. I’ve worked hard. I’ve never done anything, I’ve never put anything in my body, and I go out there and bust my butt every day. It’s not an easy game. And I think sometimes people forget that. And with Dirk Hayhurst, there’s a guy who– you know, he was another guy who had below average baseball tools. And I was actually the catcher in Triple-A who was busting my butt every single day to try to get the best out of him, and he had an opportunity to go up to the Major Leagues that year, and I take a lot of pride in helping, and feeling like I’m a part of what gave the guy the opportunity. I even remember having conversations with him about how to throw the changeup inside– I thought it was better to throw the changeup in than throw him the changeup away, and he had great results with it. And it’s tough to hear people like that criticize– I know it’s part of their job, but to sit there and inform the fans that this is wrong and this is not the way, because they quickly forget how hard this game is. Because every one of us wants to make adjustments, and no one on this earth cares more about what goes on than the players do. It’s our careers. It’s our well-being. This is what I’ve done since I was four years old. But it’s very unfortunate that those people are the ones that they have to get their information from, because they make the game sound like it’s easy, and it’s tough, because those guys are not letting the fans know what it takes and how hard it is on a day-in day-out basis, from dealing from injuries and dealing from different things to go out there and succeed in this game on a consistent level. That’s why the guys who hit .300 and the guys who pitch win 20 games are 1%, 2% of baseball. So, it’s tough, and I feel bad for fans that they have to listen to that stuff.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I'm sure JPA doesn't really care about the court of public opinion, but I wonder what everyone's reaction would ave been f he'd come out and said something like "we'll I don't agree with how they present their criticisms, this game is very hard and nobody cares more about my play than me and I know I haven't played up to even my own standards. I'm putting in extra time every day to try and make the right adjustments so I can help the Jays win more games..." Instead it's basically " they sucked at baseball and one of them created and I speak for the entire clubhouse and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!! They hurt my feelings..."
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 LOL: @AndrewStoeten: @vaswani_ @RGriffinStar Good point. Could he shut them up with... I don't know... maybe delicious baked goods?
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Can't really blame JPA for this. Zaun and Hayhurst have been taking cheap shots at JPA and other Jays players prospects all season. Hayhurst is basically a failed pitcher who turned snitch in order to get some attention. Zaun needed to use steroids just to become a mediocre catcher. You can only imagine how bad he would be if he didn't use steroids. The reason these guys are free to shoot their mouths off, is that they are both 'persona non grata' anyways. The rest of the Rogers staff is still granted interviews and invited to the occasional party, but not those two douchebags.
admin Site Manager Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Lol @ this What a circus this team is. Sums up the f***ing season. Go f*** yourself JP, you selfish arrogant f***. New manager, same s*** show.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 The worst part about all this is attacking someone's credibility to analyze the game because they weren't talented enough to succeed at it ( JP isnt either which makes it even more laughable). These airheads really to f*** off, along with their ideas that only they know what's really going on.
MolsonBlue66 Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 So much for all the hype for tonites game about a potential brawl between the Tigers and the Jays.......looks like something better brewing up my money is on Zaun hope he he kicks JP's ass tonite !!!!!!!
MolsonBlue66 Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Ratings could be at a all time high for a regular season game in early July !!!!! I can't wait to watch Blue Jays Central !!!!
Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Hopefully this is the final straw for the organization and they dump this piece of s***. I hope the players dump on him for this. I hope Melky takes it personally. I hope Verlander hits JPA today and no one runs out of the dugout to back JPA up. That would be sweet justice.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I hope Melky takes it personally. Maybe it will get him fired up, he's been almost as bad as JP this year though I hope Verlander hits JPA today and no one runs out of the dugout to back JPA up. That would be sweet justice. Unfortunately, it's going to be Rasmus or one of the Joses

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Not close to as bad fatcow... Oh I'm sorry, someone wrote a spanish slang on his eye black, that using Google Translate, translates to an unprofessional word that is used by many people in the West is worse than shaming his teammate, rejecting criticism and unprofessionally going off on media guys like they're the problem Yeah Escobar's case was way worse, my bad dude

The difference is in Hispanic countries people don't care where as North Americans do. Ignorance isn't a good reason to embarrass the organization and alienate a group of fans.

Oh because, you know, people in North America don't use 'You're gay' to kid around amirite???? Bro we know that it was unprofessional, and you had people with guts such as Vizquel and Guillen to say that it was a typical slang in spanish. He came from a background that it was normal to say to people around you (much like here although people don't like to admit it) but he said it publicly. That was the mistake. Now JP just shamed his teammate and showed that much like a teen girl, he can't take criticism. And he decided to blast the credibility of a catcher that will have 10x the amount of success that he will ever have.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Haven't read this thread and I apologize if this has already been said...this is the best thing that has ever happened to this team. Anything which might put JPA in a bad light in the media and public eye puts him one step closer to being moved from his starting role.

If Vernon Wells walked out on the field with you are my n***** on his cheek how do you think the fan base would react? Sure, it's common slang and people say it all the time, it is still completely unacceptable from a professional. How do you think my boss would feel if I walked around in our company uniform using slang that people find offensive? JP stood up for himself and he is taking the heat for it but he didn't say anything offensive to the fans or embarrassing to the team. Your criticism basically comes down to I like Yunel so what he did was ok but, I dislike JP so what he did was far worse.
JugglingPitches Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Maybe I'm too cynical, but I get the impression JP does a lot of this charity work so he can attract more cameras. This guy is in love with himself and it seems he does these things as a front to hide his terrible play and douchebaggery. Probably not the best person to be teaching the youth of our nation how to play baseball.

Just makes the team an even bigger joke, same with the clubhouse.I can just imagine what it's like in there.

DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I'd have to take fatcows side here. Yunel thing was blown way out I proportion, it was a joke and not meant to offend anybody. JPAs actions were no joke and were meant to offend people. It wasn't what Yunel said, it was the uniform he was wearing when he said it. JP didn't offend anyone he just made himself seem silly and like a whiner. He's getting rightful criticism but, what Yunel did was far worse to the organization.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Arencibia teaching niggas how to play baseball lol Nope, teaching them how to throw, no catching pls lol He knows that if he teaches them how to catch, he'll get sued for all the players with teeth knocked out from baseballs lol
