  1. man on 2nd, no out. you can practically guarantee yourself the tying run if you can exercise the basics (this team can't bunt, who knows why an MLB team can't bunt). Many teams would do that regardless of who was up at the plate. Relying on HR's is child's play so this is the product we have.
  2. It's not called NL ball, it's just normal baseball. Any team besides the Tigers and Blue Jays would be bunting in Bautista's at bat. At the very least, you've gotta shorten up your swing and hit to the right side. Add another play that just epitomizes the lack of baseball knowledge form the front office to the team. Build for 2068!!!
  3. Why does that matter? This is baseball discussion and they're valid points. Being under 25, I envy the success that even the Cleveland Indians have had over the past 20 years. That doesn't mean I want to live there.
  4. A healthy Melky even without the junk is still a better LF than any player Toronto has in the organization. Why do people care so much about the power stats? When he was playing he was always hitting leadoff or #2 save for a couple days before he was DL'ed. The OBP isn't great but again, I'd like to see him healthy. Though I doubt we ever see him again as there's less than 100 games left in the season and AA will probably pull the plug.
  5. Only Blue Jay fans would get boners for a 32 year old Japanese middle infielder with AAA skills while calling a .278 hitter bad.
  6. As a both a Cub fan and Blue Jay fan, I would bet that Chicago would come out on top if a Garza trade happened. The Cubs are doing all of the right things right now. Garza has pitched great since he came off the DL and I expect the Cubs to complete a deal with a GM who is a sucker. Not that he's a bad pitcher but it seems teams get desperate during this time of the year. Toronto may as well blow their wad for 2014, pray Dickey conitnues pitching great, Buehrle remains a solid #3-4 while Morrow and Happ never get hurt again. Months before Lind accepts his MVP and I win the lottery. Hahahaa
  7. I agree with most of this. But how can Zaun even respond to this outburst by JPA without making a complete ass of himself? Hopefully Zaun does say something, this team is hopeless on the field so let's have some fun with this off the field.
  8. I'm actually a fan of Hayhurst. I think he is the most objective out of all of the people who cover the team. Zaun, well he is objective, but I fail to see how him being a part of the panel or broadcast crew makes people want to listen to him. He was a cheater during his playing days and anything that he says could be just refuted by saying, "well Zaun at least we didn't use PED's when we played." That alone should make anything he says not credible, thus why I think he is a clown. Only Rogers would hire a former player for broadcasting/analyzing who had to cheat just to be below average.
  9. And what is the common denominator in all of this? Rogers Corporation. Would stuff like this happen with Labatts ownership in the glory days? No because these clowns wouldn't be employed in the first place. I am far from an Arencibia fan but this thing just epitomizes what a laughing stock the Toronto Blue Jays organization is and will be unless employers are held accountable for their actions. That goes for more than just players.
  10. Yeah, let's rush up another young player. He'll gets crushed by elite MLB talent, confidence will be gone, the braintrust will send him back down. Waste another 2-3 years of development. Rinse and repeat. And the never ending cycle of mediocrity continues..
  11. Yep, see several world class players part (including pitching).
  12. Ah the Tigers and Jays. Two of the worst teams in MLB at using basic baseball thoughts. Difference is that the Tigers have several world class players and a GM who has an idea out there.
  13. Honestly, the only person worth listening to when talking about the Jays is Hayhurst. Really hits the nail on the head with everything.
  14. Olerud363, you're my idol It's clearly not just a managerial issue. It comes from up top
  15. I love how people think adding this player or that player will do anything. The team does not exercise the fundamentals of baseball and haven't for years well before the Anthopoulos era. They have the wrong people in this organization from the front office, to employing coaches who don't force the players to know how to do simple things like buting or getting on base, etc. On a random day, what is the average baseball IQ in the batting order? 40? Without any trades that hurt the farm system in the off-season, this team is probably in the same position record wise. This is truly a pathetic organization from top to bottom
  16. If you swap the dh into a position your pitcher has to bat.
  17. Is anyone surprised? It all starts with the FO. This team has not played baseball the right way forever. Unless they change, this team is never a contender.
  18. Wow http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/report-ex-jay-justin-miller-found-dead/
  19. This team will never change. Same old crap the last 4 games with the hitters. Someone posed the question; does AA value OBP? Naw, and the Jays haven't in like forever. Perfect example in the ninth inning. 2-0 count, no one on base and down by 3. Arencibia swings at a pitch that might be a strike but probably not. Gets behind in the count and strikes out. I always thought, as a hitter, if you're in a good hitter's count, you take the pitch unless it is really juicy. Not a ball that is nibbling the strike zone. It's not just him as I know everyone likes to bash this player, the whole team approach to offense is just childish and does not resemble even a wild card contender in the slightest. How did Toronto not destroy Matt Moore the other night? When will this organization wake up?
  20. Lots of reactionary posts But, Kawasaki is a better player right now than Bonifacio, maybe Izturis at times Does Boni have options left
  21. If you want the best possible team, you keep Kawasaki and get rid of Izturis/Bonifacio. All 3 are pretty average players but every time I see Izturis swing at a bad pitch early in the count or Bonifacio just in the field I cringe. At least Kawasaki is consitent on D for the most part and has a smart approach at the plate unlike 80% of the team.
  22. Also, I don't know where to put this but this board is very good. Lots of discussion worth reading unlike on the website. Good job to the people who put this together.
  23. But at least when Reyes returns there will be an exciting player to watch for a few months.
