That bullpen chart is disgusting.

Max Scherzer needs to go. Had a chance to refresh the bullpen with the off day and instead the team burned through everybody other than Louis.

Bieber threw 5 scoreless innings in Buffalo last night. SWR threw 4 scoreless innings in MLB his last outing. Spencer Miles is thriving as a bulk pitcher.

I hate to say it but it's time...

I don't think they have any other choice unless he gets injured again.  Corbin has been better and he's the only rotation lefty.  Do you DFA SWR instead?  And Yimi Garcia is close to returning so who goes then?

Apparently though that dog got rabies so they had to wack him.

It would have been a better story if he was just old.

He got his 3,500 K - time to take him out back and then move on.

Jeff Hoffman is the reason Max went from "retiring with a World Series ring after a great Game 7 start" to being forced out of the game for hanging on too long. Sad. Curious to see how long it takes the Jays to pull the plug with him. It probably won't be immediate. Max may have to mutually agree that he's washed.

Why do people do this?  Why blame 1 person?  Why not blame the lineup for not scoring more - they missed several opportunities to tack on more runs.

I blame Varsho more for missing the bases loaded 1 out chance.

Yeah I thought we were well past this point by now. This was a team loss in every possible way. The entire bullpen was largely crap as I believe only Varland pitched a clean inning with everyone else allowing a run to score in their innings of work, just the same as Hoffman. As you mentioned the team had several chances to pad their lead early and didn't, and then a glorious opportunity to win in the 9th inning. Varsho failed to get the ball to the outfield to score the runner from third easily, but then the coaching staff had IKF take a minimal lead and he took no secondary lead and then compounded matters further by sliding into home plate vs running at top speed. Then the team had another great chance to tie the game in extra innings and Kirk hit into a season ending double play. But of course Hoffman still get assigned 100% of the blame when the team wasted innumerable opportunities to score more runs so that his single run wouldn't have mattered.

Blue Jays Activate Alejandro Kirk, Designate Tyler Heineman

By Connor Byrne | at June 12, 2026 2:19pm CDT

To highlight a series of roster moves on Friday, the Blue Jays activated catcher  Alejandro Kirk from the 60-day injured list and placed outfielder Dalton Varsho on the 10-day IL with a wrist injury, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports. The team also designated catcher Tyler Heineman for assignment and recalled outfielder Davis Schneider from Triple-A Buffalo. Right-handed reliever Yariel Rodriguez, who was designated for assignment on June 8, has cleared waivers.

I wasn't trying to rehash Game 7, just taking a shot at Hoffman because it will forever be justified to do so, but scapegoating the hitters for not being able to score more against a parade of aces (granted one on 0 days rest) when the closer gave up a game tying HR to a #9 hitter who had 7 home runs in three years against RHP seems a bit unfair. Game of inches bad luck vs serving up a meatball to a #9 hitter. Not exactly apples to apples.

But whatever, don't want to beat this dead horse any more than it already has been. My potshots at Hoffman will surface every now and then, though.

I'm sure Heineman will find his way back to the Jays org before the end of the season (hopefully if it happens it is as a minor leaguer).

I thought for sure the Jays would try to asset manage but I guess Valenuzela forced their hand. I just have a hard time seeing a way to get both Kirk and Valenuzela enough at bats.
