First base and third base are largely occupied and it appears as though he may not possess the requisite athleticism to play the outfield as he's received a 40 grade for speed from MLB Pipeline and 30 grade from Fangraphs. It’s the positional thing that I just can’t see past. Like even if he plays corner outfield, he’s kind of a barger clone. There is so much corner outfield/corner infield power guys in the system, I think some of it will be traded. Hopefully they pick the right ones.

jmomcc Verified Member Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Lasaracina, the Italian catcher we signed has had a pretty good start in the complex league. He is 22 but it’s also his first shot at pro ball.

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Wow he pitched today. That's a start! Obviously don't expect him to do anything on the big league team this year but at least he got in a game. 706 days since his last appearance. 1 IP 2H 1ER 2K 10 Pitches. Eat My Shatkins 1

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Danny Thompson Jr bumped up to AA last night, 4 hitless and scoreless, 1 walk, 3K Good to see one of those Vancouver arms getting challenged Sean Keys continues to rake... he's on some kind of heater right now. HRs in back to back games, trying to kick down the door and make the Jays call him up while Vlad goes to IL with a brain injury Gen.Disarray 1

I feel like promotions have been quite fast this year. We will have a lot of pitching potentially on the cusp ish next year.

jmomcc Verified Member Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Sean Keys hit a homer for third game in a row. They were talking about him on the BA pod, and right now he seems to be first base only most likely. Apparently he has got stronger. they said that if he could get to 45 at third over the offseason it would really help him. Brownie19 and JaysFan99 2

It's one of those situations where you're thinking... damn, about time the Jays get a kid that can olay a corner infield spot that has pop and could actually be a regular. Kind of seals the death warrant on Springer coming back next season as DH if Keys can play 3rd though, since Okamoto would likely be the primary DH in that scenario. It would be massively helpful to the payroll if they could get some more regulars at league minimum in the next few seasons.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Dub Gleed up to AA from Vancouver, has 3 games there now. King was allowed up to 89 pitches in his start yesterday in Vancouver. Wasnt super efficient as he only lasted 5 innings and gave uo 3 ER, but only 1 walk vs 7 Ks so still a decent battling outing
Olerud363.354 Verified Member Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Jo Jo Parker another homer. Something like .240 .380 .420 this year and career right now. Tucker Toman hot a few homers the last week or two - .283 .409 ..486 this year, .240 .340 .355 career.

This is why I still say the slow start for the teenagers is a problem. He is going to have to be added to the 40 man next year I think, and is still 2 years away if he's destined to make it. So slow start for teenagers is a problem 1. It indicates they won't make it, which is sad when so much hope for these guys. 2. If they are destined to make it, it delays their arrival and there are potential 40 man problems. Like what if Tucker stays really hot and performs well for 6 weeks in New Hampshire perhaps boosted by their short little right field fence? Terminator 1

Teams are so reticent to select position players in the rule 5 that I’d consider this just not a concern. There’s also something going with possibly the ball below triple A, so I don’t know how much I trust power surges this year.

You might be right. Willie Canate there will never be another. Tucker Toman though man. If he did hit like this the rest of the year like with some of it in New Hampshire... do the Rockies have anything better to do?

So, yes maybe the Rockies should do that. Although, if i was them I’d take pinto back.

If he is for real, he would be such a useful player as well. Shaw the Canadian in high A is also on a heater post injury. I think he could easily be at double A by end of season at 21.

Not super interesting yet but the 22 year old Italian catcher they signed this year has 6 HR in his first 50 PA at the complex. He should probably be bumped up a level.
