Look, I think Vlad has enough pride/ego to not want to continue sucking. He wants to be good.

However it seems pretty evident that he’s NOT a team player at all, plays for himself.

This kinda helps confirm my theory that Vlad hasn’t been the player he was expected because he’s just stupid. He can’t improve because he’s stupid. Can’t make swing tweaks because he’s stupid.

He’ll never be anything close to Aaron Judge, or even Jose Bautista for that matter.

I heard about the comments and also him doubling down, then I watched the interview and it was actually worse than I thought - that body language is very telling.

I can't get over how stupid he comes off here. He knows people reacted poorly to the comments. 99% of people in his shoes would take a few minutes to think about damage control and then hit the softball media question out of the park, even if they didn't actually give two shits about the fan reaction. It' just an easy thing to spin with a tiny shred of effort. Not Vlad though. Just stupid f***ing platitudes about how he was true to himself blah blah. Lazy. Stupid.

For people shocked with these comments... just remember what Schneider said about moving Vlad down in the order. When youre scared to move a guy who was performing pooly all year then this is the monster you create. 

He came in fat and out of shape in 2020, Jays took him off 3B and had him batting 6th or so.  Then he proceeded to have his best season in 2021.
