I can't remember where I saw it, but there was some analysis that this is like the 3 point line in basketball.  The .240 guy with 20 homers walks more to, so it ends up being .280 .330 .400 vs .240 .320 .420 (with a lot more strikeouts and some more walks) and the latter is slightly better WAR and maybe easier to get so have selection pressure in that direction.

I'm surprised that Eye/Patience has not been added as the sixth tool yet.  Like a guy like Bo is a 60 or 70 hit tool, but he doesn;t draw many walks.  Luis Arraez is another guy like that.  So you compare that to a Soto, who's hit tool isn't as strong, but he makes up for in just with his eye let alone his power to make him a much better option.

I assume that's a Fitz marrying a Gerald and they agreeing to hyphenate their name?  I mean it's not often a hyphenated name ends up spelling another common last name.  I hate it.

Reminds of that Irish gay couple, Patrick Fitzgerald and Gerald Fitzpatrick.

I wouldn't want him back at that price but I think it's a decent deal for the White Sox. I think his extreme splits make him a poor choice for a CL but it does raise his profile a little bit.

If he has a hot first half they could get a decent haul for 1.5 years of a CL who throws 99 mph.

Have to think that's the plan.  Use money to sign guys who could perform and be traded to net you young controllable assets.  Rebuilding 101.

We have a guy who majority feel isnt a closer either and thats with us having a 300M payroll.  Heck, many wanted Dominguez to take over the role from Hoffman so we cant be laughing at the White Sox here lol.

I really hope Hoff suppresses that HR/FB rate to what he was doing before last season so you dingleberries, STFU.

Such a wild stat that just absolutely ballooned. Everything else looked fine for him last year, just gave up almost 3x as many homers somehow in the same number of innings

I'd like to see us try to get someone like Garrett Hawkins from SD (and not just because he's Canadian).

Man if the As went out and signed Bassitt and Gallen they could be a serious team.  It's a shame they have no fans.  I'm not even sure who cheers for this team?  Are there fans in Las Vegas?  Have Oakland fans abandoned them?  Look at their lineup.  Someone should be excited!

1b Kurtz  OPS+ 173

2B McNeil OPS+ 111

SS Wilson OPS+ 121

3B Urias OPS+ 82

C Langliers OPS+ 134

DH Rooker OPS+ 123

LF Soderstrom OPS+ 126

RF Butler OPS+ 96

CF Bleday OPS+ 92

Like that's a serious lineup.  One of the best in the AL.  De Vries is coming.  No one cares..lol.  It's kind of sad.

Im pretty sure the Cleveland owner knows J-Ram is on the Epstein list or something... these extensions make no sense lol

I think the home run rate has potentially already returned to normal as Hoffman only surrendered a single home run over September and the playoffs. Of course the single homer came at an awful time though.

He wants to stay in Cleveland. How does that not make sense?

Bleday is with the Reds now lol.

I doubt Urias is their starting 3B heading into 2026. He's still a free agent anyways.

Never seen someone give up about 2/3's of their potential earnings.

Haven’t we always said here that anything over 100m doesn’t even matter anymore? His quality of life does not change much if he signs for 300m with the Dodgers instead.

He likes Cleveland and wants to stay there. Its refreshing to see someone who isn’t a slave to the big contract. He’s doing what he feels is best for his family.

He just secured like 100M more for no reason. If anything it looks like an act of good faith by the org for paying him below market his entire career

Was Yu Darvish our first collective letdown as a group? Pretty sure that was the old board days too. He was going to be a Blue Jay we all could feel it

Yu Darvish wrestling with wanting to retire but not wanting to give up the AJ Preller lifetime contract that usually comes with AJ Preller extensions/contracts.

Canada's own Denzel Clarke is in CF for the A's!

Bassitt returning to the A's to soak up a ton of innings for them would be a great fit - but I suspect he wants to win and the A's are probably a few years away.
