If you're taking another run at it in 2026 then gotta stick with the same low whiff/low k philosophy - which means bringing back Ernie and Lukes.  and add to fill holes.

SHUT DOWN CLOSER

Yes to SHUT DOWN CLOSER.  Whether somone new or getting Hoffman back to 2024 form (if that is possible).  Ideally want a closer with below .300 slugging against.

Mistake to get married to any philosophy.  LA didn't have extreme low whiff philosophy and beat us with solo homers in 3 of their 4 wins.

Anthony Santander is younger than Nathan Lukes by 3 months (hard to believe).   They are close to the same fWAR/162 but Santander can do it without a platoon mate.  Healthy Santander could provide for one Roster spot what a Lukes / Platoon Partner does for 2.  We are already owe Satander the money.

Do you guys think Santander is permanently broken?   If he could get back to 2023 level need to play him and probably trade Lukes.  If he is broken beyond repair then keep Lukes,.

If they did all that and were able to unload Berrios somewhere, I think that'd put them close to $300 million payroll. Would be pretty damn sweet. You'd have last years team but with Bieber, Yesavage and Domiguez from the beginning. And hopefully a healthy Varsho and Giminez.

As long as they didn't have a ton of regression it's probably a 95+ win team.

See how Hoffman does, maybe a deadline closer.  A healthy santander and we might be good.

And we got Varland still, 4 or 5? more years!  That’s like 1000 innings if we can get him 4 outs per game.

Bo seems around right. Maybe a little high.

Bassit seems way to high. I think he's looking more like 2/30 or 2/35 he might not even get 2 years.

Bieber came back at 16m which I feel is a steal.

SirD is whatever. He's somebody elses problem.

Max looks right.

Wow that’s shocking!! And welcome. That really helps solidify the rotation for next year.

Seems players might be worried about the looming lockout affecting long-term deals this offseason??

Yea maybe, but he should be able to get a better deal even if just 1-2 years.  Anyway great news for us lol.  There was a 4m buyout too so even better.

I think with Bieber back now you don’t bother with Bassitt unless you can punt Berrios somewhere.

1. Gauman

2. FA like Cease

3. Yesavage

4. Bieber

5. Berrios/Bassitt

Honestly very solid

Retaining Bieber is massive. I honestly didn't think he was going to opt in. I am kinda shocked.

It would take quite a bit of money to be eaten to move on from Berrios. We also don't know how healthy he is. Or is current relationship with the team. A lot of bad body language after the Bullpen move. And he wasn't around for the end of the Championship run despite being in the dugout earlier in the playoffs.

But yes we need to target a top of the rotation arm first and foremost. Whether thats chasing Amai or going after a Cease which I would love.

Okay, I'll apologize, but I assure you, Shane did this for the team, not his game 7 performance, lol.

Honestly Spanky until about 20 minutes ago I would have agreed to you. I felt he would opt out and looked for a long term deal. But would have settled for a one year deal between $22-25m with player options for more.

Likely that, and he really likes it here. I'm shocked, great news.

That's pretty awesome. A cheap rotation piece that will probably perform even better next year the farther he gets out from the surgery.

Found Gold.

Holy phuckballs that is fantastic news!

Wow. Literally shocked.

1. Bieber

2. Gausman

3. Yesavage

4. Berrios

5. Lauer

I wonder if they look to bring the Hound back, or if they try to go hunting for a bigger fish.

This aged well 🤣

I already posted my apology above, bub.

It doesn't make you any less a gluebag huffer... when YOU think he'd accepted that do to performance.

Bieber: Man, i feel so s***** about giving up that HR, what can I do to make it up to you guys?

Atkins: Well, there is that 16million dollar option you have  to stay here another year....

Bieber: Ya..ok, cool.

Honestly this is pretty shocking. He's giving up a lot of money and certainty to try running it back.

While I wouldn't truly call him an ace, I think it seals the deal on Bassitt for sure, but doesnt exclude the possibilty of another top-end arm.  Pushing Lauer to the swing role/spot starter is even better.
