Man... I went to the Yankees game for 57 bucks and then the Seattle game for 130 bucks.  Now I gotta pay $2,500 to watch game 6 ffs? Lol

I spent just over $500 to go to game 1.

The funny thing about baseball is that I doubt anybody picked the team to make a run at it THIS year of all years.

Felt way better about the 2022/2023 teams. But that’s baseball, things tend to unfold in unexpected and unpredictable ways.

So happy to be on this ride

I’ve watched professional sport for over 40 years. What I have learned is that successful teams don’t just include lots of super stars and talents. They have a lot of chemistry and strong leadership within the team and above it. This team is unique that everyone plays for each other and have amazing mental strength. They don’t give up and very gritty.

I was asked by coworkers & friends repeatedly when the season started if we'd make the WC. I told them all that we'd win the division & make the WS. Figured we'd take the division based on the weaknesses on the rest of the teams in the ALE. I however did not expect them to handle the Dodgers this handily. I was on the fence about winning the WS if we faced the Dodgers. I think we'll win it all Saturday.

MVPs against Trey:

Stanton, Judge, Bellinger, Raleigh 2025, Betts, Ohtani, Freeman. All of them looked like s*** against Trey.

Blake Snell gets beat by the Jays twice, but it's just lucky apparently.

He's sort of right, sort of wrong

Yeah Schneider jumped him and it wasn't a horrible pitch and it also could have died on the warning track, but you still decided to throw him that fastball and lost the chess match and it wasn't exactly a good pitch

The Vlad pitch was just horrible, choice and execution

Varsho triple was luck, at least two bases of it, but the Clement sac fly that followed actually had a .460 xBA

Kirk had a 108 mph .560 xBA groundout in the 6th

The Barger hit was lucky but the IKF out that followed could have been a hit

He had 5 outs on 95+ mph balls in play (Yesavage had two, for comparison, but one of them was Call's .190 xBA 95 mph "lineout")

I wonder if Blake Snell learned a lot?

To be fair - some of that is BABIP luck.  Not many triples hit with 79 MPH EVs or HRs with <100 MPH EVs.  I think what he's saying is that he feels as though he pitched better than the results suggest.

This type of thing happens all the time.  I'm sure it's incredibly frustrating when it happens in Game 5 of the WS.

The Varsho triple wasn't luck, it was bad defence by Hernandez. The Jays don't make those kinds of bad plays, and that's why they are up in the series.

yeah but snell's not going to say "man, just poor defense from teo out there that led to the triple" in a press conference, even if he was thinking it. much easier to just cite the exit velo and pass it off as unlucky

i don't really think any of what snell said is off-base. he mostly shut the jays down today, just got over-extended because roberts is scared of his own bullpen & out-pitched by an all-time performance from yesavage

It wasn't mid season... it was before free agency started.  The date on the bet card means something else for some reason.

And I could but there is no one willing to go with me at these prices and i cant be paying that much for people either lol

Man - I'd go with you.  100% serious.

But I can't abandon my kids.  Too special for them.

It is, but do you know what makes that happen over and over again against the best pitchers?  Not striking out.

Not sure when I joined the MLB forum but it would’ve been mid 00’s. Was just thinking today how “our” message board has been through now 3 migrations and here we are a win away from the World Series

So I had to look this up, and for once, my memory was correct.  I originally started posting on the ESPN message boards.  I don't exactly remember the year, but it was probably in the late '90's when I was a teenager, and the internet was finally improving (holy f*ck I'm old).  ESPN had message boards for all professional teams at the time.  Although I was 11 & 12 when the Jays won B2B World Series, I was obsessed with Frank Thomas in the early 90's and ended up a diehard White Sox fans in the mid-90's when the Jays went in the sh*tter.  My username was wsox_fan95 or something like that and over the years, I started to posted on the Blue Jays message board under that handle.  I was still a White Sox fan in 2005 when they finally won the World Series and really enjoyed that - but by that time, my heart had moved back to the Jays for good.

When those message boards died in 2013, I remember being asked to come join this new Blue Jays message board (when I changed my handle), which I believe was the one we used until Brock took over this year.

I believe it's been 25+ years of shootin' the sh*t with random fans on the internet for me.  I've learned so much about the game through it.  Love it.  1 more win boys.

I don't even know how I found my way to bluejaysmessageboard after the mlb board went dead but I'm glad I did.  I was more of a lurker on the MLB board so I certainly didn't get an invite :)

I dropped them before the offseason started.  I was assuming that Shatkins were gonna pull an AA by going all in during their contract years.  Never would I have thought we'd be winning the way we have this year lol.

That was a super worthy gamble. Im not much of a gamble but might do this in the future

Cool story man.

I've been a lurker on the bluejays.com board since sometime in 2007-2008.

Found my way to bouejaysmessageboard where id lurk daily but never had an account until here.

I too have learned a lot about baseball from people around here.

Go jays go

My earliest online message board memory was the AOL ones in the late 90’s. Not many Jays fans were there at the time, but when I no longer had AOL it morphed into many different sites over the last 20+ years which had much more traffic (like this one). All of us who have been on this message board run since the late 90’s or 2000’s have seen a lot of bad baseball. One more win this weekend and we can look back on those days as a journey rather than a punishment.

But as Kobe said, job’s not finished. Get one more win this weekend.

This is the best stat that I'm sure no one can say for now:
Trey Yesavage has more strikeouts in the World Series (17) than in the regular season (16).

Lol what a loser.

Mr. 40 Million Dollar Man can complain about luck all he wants but he got outpitched badly by a rookie making his 9th career big league start.

Mookie also had a TERRIBLE post game interview where he looked completely defeated.

Freeman had a great post-game interview but most of the team seems really flat and dejected. They are the complete opposite of the Toronto Blue Jays who never get down no matter what happens.

Need to step on their necks in Game 6 and end it.

This series ain't over though.

Yamamoto has been dealing, though I suspect we will play much better this time around. We saw him once this series and we have a whole offday to prepare at home. Get the trajekt machine out and get ready for him.

They are going to ride him 3 times through the lineup almost no matter what because their bullpen sucks so bad.

It will add a little extra sweetness to the victory if the boys can find a way to defeat Yamamoto tomorrow night. I think the Jays have a shot to perform better after seeing him a second time, but then I imagine the Dodgers were thinking the same thing before facing Yesavage a second time.
